Tried a search but couldn’t find the thread.

Awhile back RJ et al were discussing a bbq spot that sounded promising. Kinda remember it being called Hole In the Wall??? Found the spot but it looks like part of a resort setup. Not what I pictured from the discussion; but good bbq is good bbq. Going to be heading out/up that way any info?

Unless it's on Cave Creek up near Greenway, wrong spot.

Hek yea is the name.

I'm still looking. Last two times at Rudy's were disappointing.
I used to like Tom's, but not the same in recent years.
Joe's in Gilbert? Eh, OK.
Places that serve their meat with the sauce already on it are hiding something. I want to taste the smoke before smothering it with sauce.
Dickey's should be a criminal offense.
Meat that falls off the bone has been steamed or boiled. Smoked meat does not fall off; it pulls away.

Come up to the Prescott area:

Colt's in Prescott Valley in the Harkins theater complex... best during the week, really crowded on weekends and nights

Big Daddys in Chino Valley. 380 Butterfield Rd Chino Valley behind the Chase Bank on Hwy 89. Closed Sat/Sun/Mon due to their catering demands

....and, back in Phoenix, is....'

https://jlsmokehouse.com/

20th St. and Broadway, next to the church with the tall white steeple.
Owner was raised on a hog-farm in Arkansas. Learnt his way round the swine, LOL.

Two caveats. There is ONE sauce, his own, with a vinagrette base. I took a shine to it pretty quickly, but it's not thick and sugary, if that's your game. Second, all meat has char on the exterior. He doesn't wrap it up in butcher paper like Little Miss. Oh, he's now serving catfish daily, last I checked. Originally, it was just the weekends. All of the sides are excellent, too.

I've only been to the Heck Yea' once, and it was really good. I would definitley go again without hesitation.

I will second good ol' Kenny's @ Hek Yeah.

Been eating there since he opened. Sauces are on the side.

Around the corner from work. Have to try this place out.

At our shop we usually try for Lil Miss BBQ it's always incredible!

I've wanted to try Lil' Miss, but their policy for pickup orders pisses me off with it's high minimum order amount, and the fact that if you are late to pick up your order, they will just sell your order to their customers in line. That policy irks me.

Naked BBQ in north Phoenix has OK BBQ. Their macaroni and cheese sucks. Their potato salad is pretty good though.

Pork On A Fork is pretty good. Sides are pretty decent.

I miss back when Stacy's Smokehouse was at the 51 and Indian School. Before he screwed up by trying to expand into Chandler and then lost the store when he split up with his girlfriend. I tried his new place, and it is nowhere near as good as it used to be.

If you are coming, don't forget to sign up so RJ can get a good head count. He needs to know how many burros to accidently hit on the way there for fresh meat.
