Good news to hear that. Its always nice to have alternatives for big box stores like that. No good would have come from that merger for the consumer--just higher prices.

I had heard about this on another forum - and it is good news.

I hate going to Cabelas / Bass Pro - Yet Sportsman's has always provided great service. They may not have the inventory but it is way less of a sterile experience going to Sportsman's.

Probably why in the last year I have spent ~$350 at Cabelas/Bass Pro and upwards of $8k at Sportsman's. I also like that it is usually the same sales guy (Pete) who helps me when I have money setting fire to my debit card and I have to have some new shiny thing that I do not need or have the room for.

only good thing is that I might have been able to use my points on the Cabelas credit card before Bass Pro completely ruined Sportsman's. I figure there might have been a 3 month window.
