Background checks way up

Background checks were up 300% on March 16, compared with the same date a year ago. Since Feb. 23, each day has seen roughly double the volume over 2019, according to Mark Oliva, spokesman for the NSSF.

Crazy how the salad days are suddenly over just like that. My guess is that in a few months we might see a flood of "used" guns on the market.

Dad's buddy who never owned a gun until 2 weeks ago called me looking for ammo for his new AR. Sorry I have none for sale. He went from no guns in his house to 2 9mm's and a AR. Now he gets to pay top dollar for whatever scraps he can find. I'm glad I have a CCW so no waiting on background checks for me. And no waiting for overpriced ammo either.

I'm so glad I don't work for a gun shop right now. I survived both Obama elections, and Sandy Hook. It was a crazy time. I've talked to a few friends who currently work for FFL's who say it's very busy, but not quite as bad as it was for Obama's second win.

Get those CCW's renewed...it helps to not be reliant on NICS to purchase from an FFL.

Agreed! I knew many guys then let them expire when the requirement dropped in AZ for concealed carry, I always said what about buying a gun without having to wait for the check?. Their reply was always "well that does not take that long!" Yeah well how is that working out now! :mrgreen:

Everyone needs a ccw. Why ? Well ,yes the buying of a gun and when you get pulled over you hand it to the cop along with your Drivers License. Why? It's a federal back ground check. The cop now knows you are not a felon and it puts him more at ease.

There was a lot of buyers remorse after 9/11.
I was working at Bear Arms at the time (end of 2000 through end of 2002). 6 months/1 year later, all the panic buyers were selling the un-fired firearms back at 50-60% of wholesale price...

I'm with you. I'd never give the cop my CCW unless it was requested, nor would I mention having a gun with me.

I'd act like any other John Q. Citizen.

Just because someone has a CCW doesn't mean they haven't committed any felonies.
It just means they haven't been convicted of any.
If I was a police officer I wouldn't treat them any different than any other person.
Having a CCW doesn't make you special. It just gives you a few more privileges.

So in other words, this is the time for us to wait for them to all decide to sell and buy low. LOL

It will be interesting to see what these people do in 12 months. Most of them have little to no experience with a weapon and will probably wish to sell as soon as they do not feel a need to own one anymore. That being said watch them want top dollar for their gun.

No i did not say there was no reason not to have a ccw, i said it does put an officer at ease. There are plenty of reasons to have one, thinking it puts an officer at ease is not one.

It IS a safe way to give notice there is a firearm in the car to someone who may be edgy, I on the other hand believe there is gun in every car so the ccw matters not to me
