Ah yes, Sambo's. Used to be one next to the bowling alley near ASU. They had a four-egg breakfast that was perfect for a college student who had been up all night, and needed a big breakfast before going to bed.

Legend City, not growing up in Phoenix I never knew that existed, wow what a cool park. Thanks Pale Rider for posting

Legend city was next to Phoenix municipal stadium, along the first base side. I remember going to games in the late 70’s early 80’s and chasing after foul balls that would go over the fence in legend city, just out of reach.

That was my next question, where was the park located? Thanks nimrag

Your welcome. In the right side of the picture, there was a large drainage that ran through the parking lot. There where frogs and turtles in it. As a kid, that was better to mess around in, than the baseball games.

Here is a cool site about Chris town mall,

Legend City story:
The manager of Legend City was a shooting buddy of mine. (Met him long after Legend City had shut down.) He died four or five years ago.
According to him, Legend City had a big problem with feral cats in the grasslands around the lake where they had the riverboat ride. He would go out at night with a Ruger Single Six and a flashlight and hunt cats. Good times!

I do have some fond memories of what was alleged to be the only bar in Sierra Vista in 1967.
