GOA says ATF proposed a new version of the 4473.

The problem, they are putting your name and personal information on the same page as the firearm description. That is a simple scan of the FFL's bound book or 4473, fi the FFL give up the license.

The only purpose is to tie the person to the firearm, i.e. registration of at least the first purchase. When universal background check come in we have full registration of all firearms.

Don't forget that they want to make "non-binary" an option.

First off - ANYBODY that VOTES DEMOCRAT, needs to be shot, Virginia Liberals that have been brain washed that work for the ATF, should be SHOT. I wonder if OUR DUMB Congress critters would ever figure this out ?

The firearm type is not on the current 4473 form and should never be there.

Us gun owners are being assaulted on all fronts. Burn DC to the ground. :angry-extinguishflame:

The type of firearm has been on the 4473 for a few decades now. Currently, question 16 is Type of Firearm Being Transferred (hand gun, long gun, other), and questions 24-28 is the firearm info (manufacturer/importer, model, s/n, type, caliber).

No FFL should allow any 4473 to be copied by an IOI. In fact, it is illegal. The ATF/LE is only allowed to take info from a 4473 if the firearm in question has been involved in an illegal activity, or they suspect illegal activity in the transfer of the firearm(s). They can't just take the info for fun...those FFL's who allowed this to happen need to educate themselves of their responsibilities and the law.

Yeah, but how many are and how many have the balls to stand up to a demanding IOI?

I wish they would but we know ATF doesn't follow their own rules and it is too damn expensive to fight them.

while you still can... buy now via private sale all those toys you've been wanting, sell all your excess now via private sale..... prices will go up, paranoia will go up, availability will go down.

You know what. If they change it, you guys can b!t^h all you want. When it comes to buying guns it won't stop anyone here.

It's not a matter of "bitching", we are still in a period where we can write our representatives and "bitch" to stop this.

And yeah I will buy guns but I'm not happy with making the current registration system easier when it violates Federal Code.

While I'm all for this, it's hard to get your specific want to come up in a private sale

I feel ya...
If I haven't convinced myself that I just hafta have a particular geewiz, but one of several possibilities, I will put it on my 'list' and keep an eye open for it...

At the moment I am looking for a 4" 686-4 or maybe a -3 ... none other... but OTOH I would like to find a 9mm 1911 of some unspecified make.

I'm looking for a specific gun, waiting for it to come up in a private sale and have been for around 3 months.

Sooner or later one will turn up. I'm in no hurry.
