Been waiting for a guy like this to show up in US elections,...and all I'm getting is older and grayer while waiting on that.

This dude shocked all the pundits and "professional" political analysts to win the primary on the right to become the leading candidate. I think I got a man crush on this dude.

Epic rant. He's a hero.
Reminds me of my other hero, Marjorie Taylor Greene: "Biden's not a president. He's a piece of s__t."
Yeah baby!

The world's first Libertarian President has won in Argentina. Milei is the victor. His opposition acceded defeat moments ago.

I like this guy's style! Upon being officially sworn in as President, he signs in the inaugural book his official signature with "Long live f*cking freedom!"

Argentina Announces 50% Devaluation Of Their Peso As Part Of Shock Economic Measures

Argentina has announced the devaluation of their currency due to an economic shock measure.

Argentina announced a significant devaluation of its currency as well as reductions in energy and transportation subsidies on Tuesday, and according to new President Javier Milei, the shock adjustments are necessary to address the country’s economic “emergency.”

In a broadcast speech, Minister of Economy Luis Caputo declared that the value of the Argentine peso will decrease by 50%, from 400 pesos to 800 pesos to the U.S. dollar.

“For a few months, we’re going to be worse than before,” Caputo warned.

Milei maintained that the nation did not have any time to consider other alternatives.

Well, since this is a gun forum, what everyone is actually interested in is whether this reformist Argentine President who is rather accurately described as libertarian will also deregulate firearms ownership.

Dean Weingarten (who lives here in AZ) over at Gun Watch wrote a little bit about that here - http://gunwatch.blogspot.com/2023/12/argentine-president-milei-approves-of.html

He describes how prior to the 90s, .22 caliber weapons were pretty much unregulated at all, so it is easy to imagine that can be a status quo easily returned to without much effort. But further, Argentina actually has a carry permit system in pace currently. How connected one has to be and bribes needed to be paid to get a CCW there is unclear. But even having any such ability to carry in a nation other than the U.S. is unusual. It will be interesting to see how much that can or will be liberalized.

As Dean points out (rather accurately, in my opinion), Argentina's woes that need to be fixed are numerous and primarily economical. And it is indeed primarily that which Javier Milei was voted in to focus his attentions on. And he is not empowered like a dictator and has to work with the Congress, with about 100 years of bad governance to unravel. But he is on record as being an admirer of our 2nd Amendment and has mentioned it as part of his touch on crime approach.

Time will tell.
