What do you guys do to store magazines? I have a bunch of magpul mags and trying to find a good storage solution without wasting space or taking up too much space is almost impossible to find without throwing them in some sort of bag or box. I have GI mags that stand straight up or lay flat in ammo cans but because magpul mags have the wider base it's a pain to find something that works. I'm interested in your solution or I'll just have to deal with the wasted space.
 
i keep loaded ar mags whether gi or after market in the tall 50 cal cans, heavy sobs , but holds a gaggle
good luck with it, one can never have too many magazines

I put them in plastic ammo cans from Bass Pro. They have all sizes and easy on the mags. Not exactly space saver or tactical though. At the range they go in my pocket or on some gadget attached to my side.
 
40mm ammo cans are great. If I remember correctly, you can put 5 AR mags side by side in the width of the can, and then I think you can make about 5 rows with the length of the can. Very nice and tidy fit.

One can never have too many magazines. Also the reason I need to figure out good storage. I'll look into your idea and see if it works for me.

I'll have to go check them out and see if they will be a good fit for the available space I have.

I'll check those out too. I'm assuming you can just find some ammo cans at the local surplus store and I would imagine they have multitude of sizes so I'll go check them out.
 
If you stack them opposite directions (one up, one down, one up, one down, etc) they fit together better. I like the Magpul mags and use them more often than any others, but the Okay surefeed are pretty slick and stack like a GI.

A physical item will take up physical space...that's just a law of the universe, no way around it.

Just flip the mags and stagger them, it works just fine. I keep my extra mags in a plastic tote, keeps them dust free.

The real question is how much money are you willing to waste on a problem that doesn't really exist?

Of course items take up space. Couldn’t imagine they wouldn’t. I used google earlier today and found all the same results but I was asking if anybody on here had any good ideas as well because too much research isn’t always a bad thing. I’m willing to put some money into it as I have a lot of money into magazines and ammo so I would be willing to pay for good storage if something I like pops up.

Yea, when I got home today I was actually thinking just to flip them up and down and I couldn’t come up with a reason as to why I didn’t think about that before. I really like the Okay industries for GI mags. They work and aren’t that expensive. I think having a mix of good GI mags and Magpul mags is a good thing.

I was looking at this earlier but I was also thinking that normal ammo cans can work the same and hold more mags. Do you have multiple and if so do they stack neatly?
 
It depends on what type of storage you are needing...

Storage to keep them in your closet? Storage in your vehicle? Storage for quick access to loaded mags? Storage for range trips? Storage for your gun safe? Storage for a go bag? Storage for????

You don't need anything fancy if you are just needing to keep a bunch of empty mags in the back of your closet, garage, under work bench, etc.

I guess I should have said where they are stored. I’m working with minimal space as I am in an apartment and as much as I would like to have a gun room I really only have a gun corner for accessories and ammo. I need something stackable that can be carried which leads me to getting ammo cans or one of the other suggestions posted on here. All of my mags are loaded with the exception of five 20 round GI mags and Last time I did inventory I had almost 70 pmags with more being picked up with new gun purchases or just picking a up a mag at the store. I’m thinking I’ll go hit up a surplus store and see what kind of ammo cans they have and mess with those to see if I can get the result I’m after. If they don’t work at least now I have more ammo storage.

My system is different. I color code the storage boxes so I'll know what to grab, like M193 or Mk262. The pouches is what I bring them in to the range. I keep my spares at home whether in the wrap or already been used, in these:

I keep defensive ammo pre loaded but stored in my safe or in battle belts.

I’ll have to really look at these suggestions because they are nice. The bigger one seems like it would work pretty good for the space I have available and it is an inexpensive option.
