Customizability in this case being modularity and adaptability- mounting lights and lasers, swapping furniture to better suit the indivdual, etc...

AR for all the reasons above. AK is useful for long term storage in unusual conditions and in case you can't find it again.

I enjoy shooting my ARs much more than my Ak. I do, however, have a good amount of ammo and magazines for my AK and I love how it just keeps on ticking no matter what I do to it.

I like both !😀 Having used both for work, the only easy answer for me is here in the states the std AR with it's meriad accessories and personalization possibilities is great. To me the biggest reason is the availability of ammo to feed the standard .223/5.56 AR. If I were in the Middle East, Africa, etc. Then the AK has my vote. Would I prefer a better round in the AR ,YES!! Adapt to what is prevalent and train.

Going with AR for being able to adapt it to whatever configuration you want, but I do have an M92 with a KAK blade and a loudener brake, that's just fun to shoot. Going to put a rail piece on it for a RD

Yep,if the round does not get them the "loudner " brake sure will ! 😀 Flash and Bang - deaf and blind from that break.

AK = bigger bullets are better, reliable as a rock and functions in conditions/lack of maintenance that would lock an AR up.

17+ years in the Marines broke me of any desire to own an AR (or a 92F for that matter). Also not a fan of 5.56 either and only own one rifle (not an AR) in that caliber for my wife to shoot.

Which conditions would lock up an AR but not an AK?

Lack of lube
Sand
No cleaning
etc

Not getting into an ARFCOM fanboi argument here....AR is definitely more accurate but the AK is more reliable by far.

For me, this particular argument comes down to one specific word: 'overall." In that case, AR by a LONG shot...and I'm no fanboy of either platform. It's only when a specific attribute is singled-out that the scales tilt one way or the other. I've got exactly as many AR's as I do AK's (I think; would have to check again to be sure... ), but the task or mood at hand would determine which I'd grab.

The biggest flaw that the AK has, is that it is stagnant. The AR has been constantly improved over it's life span.
