One of my students recommended it, so, I spent the money and got the setup for much less than new. Already almost 30K rounds into it.

Hello Clyde, hope you have been well. Bought for my boy with him getting into the Tactical Games and he quickly found it helped him focus on breathing w/trigger control. Didn't think I'd touch it but I was sooo wrong, just too convenient when I want to shoot for 30mins. Becoming a big fan...

Yea, it's kind of addicting once you get into it and learn how the system works. I'm not doing it for ratings, I just want to stay in constant memory for getting the sights up and on target. Now, I've got some damn fast runs, and I manage to stay in the upper range of points, but it ain't my thing to compete.

I actually just ordered a Quest 3 yesterday, with the intention to use it mainly for this. Looks like the 3d printers I own will get a bit of action to since there are quite a few different guns you can print and transfer the "fcu" into to use with the training sim.

There's a 20% discount if you're a vet on Ace's website, and you have to prove it. I paid half of what the quest 2 goes for, and the rest on the gun and access. Well worth the price for me, and I'll upgrade to a quest 3 sometime later in the year, they say the extras are worth it.

I researched all the compatible quests - and it was the 4k and pancake lenses that sold me on the pricier one. I have a very capable home PC that is 4k capable so the ability to hook the 3 up to that and do other stuff was a feature I can use. If it wasn't for that I would have probably went Quest 2 route.

Either way, this appears to be quite the capable training supplement. I do a lot of dry firing, but sometimes that gets a bit old and I have run out of coming up with creative ways to make it entertaining. Adding this to the daily routing rounds it out. My headset arrives tomorrow - so as long as that doesn't cause me issues then I will order the rest of the kit and 3D print some different guns for it.

Yea, I wasn't going to spend the money on a higher end headset until I could actually experience it, and now, it may be worth the extra $$ for me. And yes, I did a lot of dry firing, with the lasers that are strike activated, and it was great, but this, well hell, it's beyond dry firing. Let me know when you get your stuff set up and activated and we can run a few rounds in our own little domain on there, and I can offer some pointers that helped me.

My Quest 3 arrived, and now just waiting on the Ace VR stuff. I did play "Onward" and even the weapons handling in that is pretty impressive considering it is just a game.

They've also got a few good archery games for free, very limited stuff but still fun. There's a new VR Bow Hunting app that's out right now, not sure how it's gonna play in this but I'll research it a lot before buying.

Yes, it's addictive. But sadly, once you shoot with someone else on the field together, it's kinda boring doing it alone now. This is going on my third week now, the first few days I just used my normal controller.

FWIW, the software and capabilities of the Quest 3s are the same as the 3. What you pay for on the 3 is the lighter pancake lenses that are more comfortable to wear. If you use it a lot it's probably worth it but if you only use it an hour here or there the 3s is just as good.

That isn't entirely true.

The quest 3 has a higher resolution (2064x2208 vs 1832x1920) per eye and a wider field of view (110x96 degrees vs 96x90 degrees.) Also the IAD adjustment on the 3 is more precise. The pancake lenses are optically superior, with less chance of eyestrain and overall better sharpness across the entire display.

If you are only running stuff on the headset - then probably not worth the extra money. If you want more resolution via PCVR and/or a more "future proof" device then the 3 makes sense.

My ACE stuff arrived a few days ago and it is pretty awesome. I really enjoy the daily stages/challenges.

I have a friend who works for Oculus who said the measurements aren’t very distinguishable and the 3s is by far the best value. (He wouldn’t say exactly but gave the vibe the numbers on the 3s were exaggerated down to justify the price gap.) That said, I’d spend the extra money just for the lighter weight of the 3.

The increase in pixel density is nice for PCVR, and that alone made the decision for me.

Although I will say, reviews were not kidding when they said the stock strap sucks. It was on my head for about 20 minutes before I ordered a BoboVR S3 Pro strap/battery and that makes it much more comfortable and easier/faster to adjust. I also swapped the "facial interface" with a silicone one so it is easier to clean. I 3D printed a lens cover and a storage stand.

I took it all to work today and had the coworkers trying it out. Lol.

So now that you guys are setup and shooting, let's get together for a little shooting together. Honestly I'm getting bored since my partner hasn't been online in the last week.

If you have questions, shoot me a PM and we'll connect via phone and then in VR once you're in. I've got the next couple of days off, so hit me up.
