Vice President-elect Kamala Harris caused a stir on social media for calling for support for minority-owned businesses only months after raising bail for protestors that may have looted or otherwise damaged them.

An August report from the Federal Reserve Bank of New York found an estimated 41% of Black-owned small businesses failed, compared to 17% for white-owned businesses. The report attributed the higher rate in part to weaker banking relationships for Black-owned companies.

Harris on her Twitter account called for financial relief for small businesses, especially those owned by minorities: “Joe Biden and I are committed to helping these businesses during this pandemic and get them the support they need to thrive in years to come,” she posted on Saturday.

The post was in contrast to comments she posted in June after waves of social unrest over police brutality against minorities led to looting and vandalizing of some of those same businesses, most notably in Minnesota following the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police.....

I have said in other posts that I couldn't understand why Trump was saddled with the reputation of a Racist. I mean its all you hear. Except from him. Maybe there is some blurb someone can share where he was Nigga that and spic this but I had never heard it. I just heard the bleating sheep saying he was racist and here I was able to read and couldn't find an instance of him publicly being one.

I will say it once again .. I am not a fan of Trump the man. I was thrilled with what his administration was doing, has done but .. I don't love the guy but I don't have to love everyone and can still think they are doing an excellent job. Its called being a grown up.

Affirmative action in the work place, in school admissions and preferential loans based on being non white is absolutely unfair so he was a bigot and a racist for saying so??

Now I will be honest I dont think I feel strongly on the subject of abortion ... just hasnt affected me so I dont think alot about it but .. I do like numbers and facts

Black and Hispanic women combined make up less than 30% of the population and account for almost 60% of the abortions. So ..looking at it somewhat objectively .. if you are not only a supporter of abortions but think that more of them should happen ... well .. its just math.

How about "being for" trying to lower the numbers and addressing the issues that have 60% of abortions being performed on 30% of the population ... unless .. your happy there are less of that 30%??

The one and only time I applied for a job in the public sector was right after I got out of College.

Engineering position, entry level, working for the city. The job announcement was clear, take a written test with a passing score of 70% and an oral board each one having a possible 99 points maximum. They then would add the two together, divide by two and that was your score. Highest score gets the job.

Took the written test, got a 99. The next closest score was a woman who got a 60. I was notified of this in writing. I called and asked when I started the job as nobody else even passed the written test.

They told me they would allow the woman to pass and that they also were changing to 90% of your score would be the oral and 10% the written. I did the math and said to myself, okay, I'll get a 99 on the oral for a total of 99. She'll get a 99 on the oral just so they can show how politically correct they are. Doing the math, she ends up with a 95.1% and I still get the job.

Got the notification that I got a 99 on the oral and I was #2 in line for the job. I informed them their math sucks and she got a 95.1 so I win.

Oh no, they said, because of affirmative action she gets an extra 10 points added to her score bringing her to an illegal score of 105.1 (maximum 99 allowed by the rules). But don't worry, they said, they'll hire me in 30 days as they need 2 engineers.

I told them to go pound sand, that if I worked for them 5 years or so down the road there'd be another test for promotion, she and I both would take it and they'd give it to her. Thus I'd be working for an incompetent (normal for public sector).

I worked for private sector from then on, mostly for start ups as affirmative action was ignored in small companies. Later I started my own company which was even better.

They've effectively driven the best and brightest away from all public sector jobs and it really shows when you have to deal with government, City, County, State and Federal.

In the end if women and Minorities want to take their fair share and sit at the adult table they need to be allowed to fight and possibly fail completely on their own and best person gets the Job. Then all this nonsense about Bigotry will end.
