A few years ago I picked up an interesting Mosin.
A Tula that was stamped with the Cyrillic CN designating it as a sniper, but without any scope mount holes drilled, stock modifications, turned down bolt, or scope number stamped on the side.
The trigger is the best I’ve ever felt on a Mosin.
From what I can figure, this rifle was inspected and selected as a sniper, but the war ended, and it was dipped in cosmoline and crated until it fell into my hands.
Just an interesting Mosin find I thought I’d share with any other Mosin fans on the board.

Shoots very well, the rifling is fantastic. I honestly don’t believe it was fired after it was selected for sniper duty. Many of these old 91/30s have bores that look like sewer pipes. I’d love to get some good quality ammo and shoot some groups. Of course, with how lousy my eyes have become over the years, I’d really need to put it in a shooting vise to see what it’s actual accuracy is...

My friend reloads for his Mosin. I believe he uses brass from PPU.

He is able to get sub-moa out of his Finn and right at moa out of his Russian.

I've reloaded brass 7.62X54R Norma brass for many years. Bought 1 box the rest was range pick ups back I the day.I now have about 200 Norma cases, I haven't shot any of the Mosin's for quite a few years. Last 15 years been shooting lots of 60's Czech Silvertip in my 1910 Russian SnowCap Maxim. :D

Now that info makes me real curious about what kind of accuracy this one could get with the right load...

That actually sounds like a fantastic way to burn up some old Czech ammo 😎

What brass did you use?
Norma brass, Sierra .311 174 gr., CCI 200 primers, IMR 4895.
Thanks for all the info Lew! Guess I’m going to have to save my dimes and nickels and invest in some more reloading supplies 😉

Happy to help. I only used the CCI 200's because that's what I load for all my FALs and G3, and therefore had a bunch on hand.

Sure is except every time I bring it out everyone wants to shoot it. I had to make 50 round cheater belts because before I did people would forget to release the trigger. :D
