Having ammo is like having money, can't really put a limit on it. I have enough ammo to wipe out a small town....but I can always use another case 😉

I like the way you think!!

 I'm just interested in where everyone stands on where the line is on hoarding and not hoarding.

Neither hoarding nor price gouging exist in a free market. Such words are fairly communist in nature, as they assume a social contract of mutual ownership exists.

Ok let's take it another direction. Seeing how your not going to answer the question because of communistic aphobia. Here. At what round count would you be called a prepper of ammo by the public?

I do not care how much ammo someone wants to own, nor do I care what the general public thinks about such things. Buy as little or as much as you want. Charge whatever you want. I like freedom.

It was just a simple question. Being a prepper, hoarder, gouger, bad person or good person. There is no law against it. I just wanted to know what everyone's idea was on the subject. I know what yours is. Now does anyone else want to chime in

Simple reply...it's a free market society, supply and demand. I will give my neighbor a roll of TP for nothing but I will NOT go out and buy TP to attempt to sell it for an outrageous price. That's just being a dickhead. Same situation happened not too many years ago for .22 ammo. Listen to history, it always repeats itself no matter how much you think you've learned.

Depends on what public.
I am sure the public of San Fransisco would have a different opinion from the public in anywhere Arizona.
Personally I would go with anywhere Arizona.

That's just personal opinion. I know people that would not help their neighbors out at all. It's all about what's going on at the time it's going on. What circumstances you are in at that moment in time as well

We need to watch how we use the word hoarder on here. Maybe we should say a very extreme prepper.

No, it is called:

One who accumulates, collects, and stores

One who is excessively stingy or cautious with money

Heavy Content: A key term
A heavy content environment can offer many potential for a collapse, this is usually wither from interior debris falling to a complete collapse of the entire structure.

The National Study Group on Compulsive Disorganization created a Clutter Hoarding Scale as a guideline for professional organizers making their first few contacts with clients:

Hoarding Level One: Clutter is not excessive, all doors and stairways are accessible, there are no odors, and the home is considered safe and sanitary. (your shit is out of the way)
Hoarding Level Two: Clutter inhabits two or more rooms, light odors, overflowing garbage cans, light mildew in kitchens and bathrooms, one exit is blocked, some pet dander or pet waste puddles, and limited evidence of housekeeping. (you ain't taking care of your shit)
Hoarding Level Three: One bedroom or bathroom is unusable, excessive dust, heavily soiled food preparation areas, strong odors throughout the home, excessive amount of pets, and visible clutter outdoors. (your shit is flowing to the other buildings and outside)
Hoarding Level Four: Sewer backup, hazardous electrical wiring, flea infestation, rotting food on counters, lice on bedding, and pet damage to home. (your ammo is stored near the wiring and your ho brought some crap back into your bed)
Hoarding Level Five: Rodent infestation, kitchen and bathroom unusable due to clutter, human and animal feces, and disconnected electrical and/or water service. (you quit taking care of your shit..period)

Whether its TP or ammo, if you gradually build a huge stockpile fine. But if SHTF and you decide to increase your stash by 2 or 3x when everyone else needs it too, you might be hoarder. Like the guy that drove around and bought 17k bottles of hand sanitizer. If he had spent the last year or two buying up 17k bottles of hand sanitizer, fine that is his personal goal. 17k in last week, you are an A-hole trying to profit off of panic'd people.

And please don't tell me Capitalism. Actual capitalism is that you start a hand sanitizer factory.

I suspect there are plenty of guys here who, like myself, is "the gun guy" in their own circle of friends and family. I've been preaching to everyone for the last 3 years that guns and ammo prices are the lowest they'll ever be again, and that now is the time to buy! You don't have to be a Trump fan (I'm not) to see how guns and ammo prices have been fabulous since he's been in office. 3 years I've been saying this! 3 flippin' years!!

But of course, NOW all my friends and family who have not heeded my warnings,...NOW they start calling me. Do you have a gun I can buy? Can I get ammo from you?

Christ all mighty,.....

So now, if I DON'T help supply these dingbats, I'm a bad guy. So yeah,...I went out and hustled to get some more ammo. No,...I didn't NEED to. But my buddy the paint and body man is gonna give me a deal in the next year on repainting the van because I came through for that unprepared fool. And my attorney friend is gonna provide me some free consulting some day for the same reason. And cousin Gary,...well,...f*@k cousin Gary.

Your a better friend than I am. They started calling me Tuesday of last week and haven't stopped. I just tell them I haven't got anything to spare , I'm sorry. Not really I'm not sorry but a teachable lesson this is going to be. Their going to learn today.

There is a difference, it’s not hoarding when you start stockpiling for the SHTF, as opposed to just buying in mass quantities on any given day. I go with the SHTF scenario in my everyday purchases

bummer on friends who don't get it, know a few whining about ammo, most own a few guns, and no issues, and for immediate family and friends, i can field them with a unit if they take the time to go thru safety check and function with me, if not, screw'm. and oh yeah, ammo.

i reload so not a biggy, just keeping components on had can become an issue, but again, its not hoarding if you have a plan, ..................is it

I'm a "hoarder" of all kinds of things. Gold, silver, money, stocks, bonds, guns, ammo, food, water, medical supplies, books, land, etc.

Anyone who uses "hoarder" negatively should be sent to the gulags.
