Well, apparently the prosecutor neglected to read the FBI forensic report on the testing of the gun. Here’s is the relevant portion (page 6).

TL;DR: They tried to force it to fire without pulling the trigger by pounding on the hammer with a mallet 1) with the hammer down, 2) at quarter cock, 3) at half cock, and 4) at full cock. The only detonation occurred in the full cock position…

…when they pounded the hammer so hard that the sear sheered.

Prior to the breakage, the gun operated properly and would not fire.

Has anyone read or heard what modifications were supposedly made on the gun that allegedly allowed the gun to fire without pulling the trigger?

The link tenring posted. Just wonder if there was follow up

On the armorer, I'm a bit conflicted. My understanding is that she wasn't on set that day, and the director was acting as assistant-armorer, which generally means that liability passes on to him. If she was actually on set, then, yeah, she is absolutely liable.
I don't have a horse in this race, just a question.
How can they charge her, if she wasn't there?

Someone has to take the fall.

Well, the prosecutor's office sure has their nuts being squeezed by someone who's desperate to have the case go anywhere but at Baldwin. They just filed a Hail Mary charge at the armorer, claiming she was high on drugs and alcohol when she, despite not being there, supposedly loaded the live ammo in the gun she didn't load. And this despite no witness statement or lab reports or other evidence to support the idea. And suddenly, the prosecution's lead investigator "inadvertently" included the defense attorney in his email chain to his bosses that "“The conduct of the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office during and after their initial investigation is reprehensible and unprofessional to a degree I still have no words for,” he said in the email dated June 20. “Not I or 200 more proficient investigators than I can/could clean up the mess delivered to your office in October 2022 (1 year since the initial incident…inexcusable).”

Yep, this just keeps getting muckier and muckier.
