I think maybe we have gotten too dependent on acronyms. "FDE" is a case in point. I see it used frequently on gun forums, so I decided to find out what it means. One source (https://www.allacronyms.com/FDE) gives 114 definitions, none of which seems relevant to this forum. Just out of curiosity, what does it mean here?
 
Any acronym requires context or it’s meaningless. Take LTE for instance:

For cell service in conjunction with 4G, it means “Long Term Evolution.”

For helicopters, it means “Loss of Tail-rotor Effectiveness.”

Learn to think of them in context and your problems are solved.

RTF--that is a good one. Acronymfinder.com apparently has 191 definitions. I did not look at those beyond 50. Rough Textured Frame might be there.
 
RTF - Hey those are my initials! Also, the brand I have on pistol grips I make and sell on eBay! Little plug here.

But I occasionally get people asking what RTF stands for due to Rough Textured Frames as well as other creative words that might come up. Some not so flattering as others.
