Lovin my Sig 229. Its a DA/SA in 40S&W. It is dead nuts accurate if I do my part and I think its a rather handsome manly gun!!

Decided it could be even more special and I installed the SRT kit and a grayguns dual adjustable flat trigger. Of course ... I wasnt sure my table top gunsmithing would produce a serviceable weapon but .. I just got back from the range and I am here to say .. whew .. nice upgrades for a total of around $130 and an hours time.

The Srt kit is bone simple to install and you get giant bang for the buck. The kit goes from around $50 and installs in minutes. The reset is SHORT. I mean .. way short. Come off the trigger what feels like less than 1/2 inch and its ready to strike and no travel after the break. Wow .. just mind blowing difference.

You can really dump bullets in bullet holes quickly with the SRT and if you have opposing thumbs you can install it in ten minutes.

The second part was the Gray guns dual adjustable trigger
https://grayguns.com/product/p-series-precision-adjustable-straight-trigger/

The stock trigger has a very tight curve which I didnt care for. It was fine but .. this is better. The stock trigger also has a half ton of pretravel and a boat load of after travel. Now there is a touch under 3/16" pretravel and after travel is almost non existant.

i shoot a lot of revolver so I am proficient with DA but using the flat faced trigger gave me more leverage than the tightly curved stock trigger and I was able to smooth out my trigger stoke and it feels like I took pounds off the hammer spring just by the placement and slide of your finger.

All in for $130 bucks and about an hours time and I turned a gun I was already thrilled with into something that works even better for me. 50 rounds of factory, 50 rounds of reloads and 2 rounds of 180gr hst and I grinned through the whole thing.

drop dead sexy...the pistol, not you...lol

LOL ... Im pretty damn sexy!! or something!!
I think its or something.

Love that sig. I feel a little bump in the testosterone level whenever I am out shooting it!

I have a couple Sig's, I like them but have not been bowled over yet.

Maybe with a little tweaking like you did above, it will make me more on board with them.

come shoot my SIg, you will be bowled over, hehehe, load it and shoot for an hour or more, heheeh.

while i was never a huge sig fan, this one sold me, and i still have some from days past, my deal is to never sell or trade the ones, i may fall for later, reason i buy deep, try it, park it, trade it maybe.
happy days

I added Gray Guns ELS system with the adj. flat trigger. The ELS system makes an even bigger difference than just adding the trigger. Installed a Super Strut, also, which may have helped a bit but hard to tell a big difference but the ELS a very big difference. About 8# double action and less than 4# single action with a 17# main spring. Mine already has the factory SRT and the 17# spring has fired every primer it has hit.

1/2" reset is actually a loooong reset. A glock is about 1/4" and a CZP10c is 1/8". How does your SRT reset compare to known stock pistols?

I didnt measure the reset .. just guessing from when I fired it but I will break it out and check with a ruler. Far as I can tell .. it is the shortest reset I have ever had on any gun. My M&P is a more clearly defined reset but I think its a scootch longer.

Edited to add
Ok I just measured with a ruler. Hard to tell how long you let your finger out when shooting and I was guessing. Measured is some where around 1/16" and less than 1/8" I measured from the little hook at the bottom of the trigger from where it is depressed to where it winds up when you hear the clack and are able to pull the trigger for a follow up. Yup .. shortest reset I have ever expereinced!

Awesome! Thanks for doing that. I wasn't so much interested in the actual measurement as much as I was interested in how short it was compared to something like a Walther PPQ, Canik, or CZP10c. All 3 of which I consider to have very short resets.

I had the p10c and before my little sig adjustment it was the reigning champion of reset! While not quite as short as the sig is now it still wins in the really defined reset feel. No mistaking that CALACK at the reset in the 10c! It's not quite as satisfying in the sig.

I'll measure the m&p later and post.

I really like my old traditional DA/SA SIG's but I've never done anything with their triggers. I guess I've just always gotten used to them. But that's an interesting trigger modification that I might try. Thanks for that review.

Were I going to do one thing only .. it would have been the SRT kit. I could and did get used to the LONG reset which you know is almost half the travel of the trigger if not more but .. man for $50 bucks and really 10-15 minutes that SRT kit was worth it.

Alright .. just got back from 3 hours of kayaking and broke out the M&P 2.0 40C. Now this is another gun that you can hear the reset from across the room and I actually love the reset on this gun .. welll I like most everything about this gun!

Measured out after three tries at 1/4. Still really negligible especially compared to the stock reset on the sig 229. Checked the sig again since its still unloaded and confirmed .. 1/16" maybe maybe 3/32.

Does it feel a ton different than the P10c or M&P .. nah .. to me its not enough to really feel it while firing but compared to what it was before the SRT install .. its light years different.

You can kind of see the difference in this video. Its a long video but the reset difference can be seen between 2:00 minutes and the 2:36 mark. Really all anyone has to watch if they are not actively doing the install. The video just doesnt do the difference justice when you are shooting the gun though.

Hey Alex, don't forget about that Grand Power K100! I think that pistol may even have a shorter reset than the P10c...

man you know .. I could have fallen in love with the grand power but I just just just couldnt get past having to pull on the trigger guard to field strip. I know .. probably stupid but I kept thinking .. Im going to break this. I think the newer ones have the glock take down levers.

They do have Glock style take down levers now. But you could also get spare trigger guards for the MK7 models for $8 from Eagle Imports or Global Ordnance.
