Who shoots it? who has shot it? is it all that and a bag of chips?

Some folk on the sig forum think its the coolest cartridge since the musket and I am considering a barrel for one of my sigs when the nuttiness ends but I dont know that I am convinced ..

I am already running 155 gr 40 at near 1300FPS. What will the 357 Sig give me .. besides a cartridge I dont know how to load for.

Get the barrel just for Sh*ts and giggles?? Is it fun to shoot, is it the man stopping beast that I read about are there other reasons to love 357 Sig?

My EDC is a Glock 23 with a 9mm conversion barrel. I chose that over a plain old G19 because after that last ammo crisis, I wanted to have the ability to shoot whatever ammo I could get my hands on. .40 ammo was among the first to recover and be available again last time. Because it is not as popular, .357SIG didn't dry up as quickly, either, and recovered rather soon by comparison,...whereas it took forever for 9mm and 5.56 to be readily on the shelves again. I expect the same this time around as well.

So yes, although I haven't gotten around to it yet, I'm going to get a .357SIG barrel too.

I don't know if this is true or not, but years back I read that .357 Sig has a tendency to over-penetrate when used for self-defense. I don't know if someone with expertise can chime in on that, and perhaps that has been resolved with more modern loads.

Also, I've heard that they're much more barrier blind than other handgun cartridges which could be a good thing or a bad thing depending on your situation. They're also supposed to be much louder.

I thought about picking up a .357 Sig barrel for my USP just so that I can continue to feed my handguns while sourcing a broader selection of calibers. As Suck My Glock mentioned, .357 Sig isn't in as much demand, so you tend to have more opportunities to buy it.

My recommendation in this ammo market... buy a bunch of .357 Sig ammo before you even bother with sourcing a barrel.

I love my .357 Sig's. My favorite cartridge...in an autoloader, except perhaps for 10mm. Extremely accurate, and flat shooting.

As a goofy cartridge dude I like it, along with .38 super.
Years ago I was doing a deal with a fellow member who happened to be ex leo from back east like Chicago.
He said the extra speed it carried help to penetrate the heavy clothing in cold weather.
So naturally I thought what a great round for Az!!
I may have a few rounds available soon as I am continuing my old age clean out the crap I have collected plan.

The 357 SIG is as easy to load for as any bottleneck cartridge. I'm getting 1487 FPS out of a 125 gr HP and over 1500 out of the Lehigh Extreme Penetrator- good enough to bust all the way through a black bear lengthwise or car doors, if need be. The 357 SIG was developed to match the 357 MAG 125 GR police load and is the only semi-auto round that does so with the same level of recoil.
