Well, that was a success.

Made it to the range with my new reloading skills.

Using 16.1g of W296 underneath 125g Sierra Match King HP and CCI #400 primers, I loaded up 48 rounds in 300 blackout.

According to my new Lyman book, that 16.1g is light by 0.7g, but I got my load data from a Sierra PDF I found online. I did put my seating depth 0.05 deeper than the data I had though.
All rounds fed perfectly. All rounds went bang. All rounds cycled perfectly. All empty mags had bolt hold back. All rounds hit paper with no issues. In fact, they were quite a bit better than some S and B factory ammo I took with me as well.

Before firing these, I was thinking of upping my charge to that 16.8g that Lyman suggests, but I may just leave it where it is. This gun is just a range toy with a dot, so I'm not worried about shooting sub MOA groups.

Super stoked right now. Thoughts on powder charge?

Try going up and down, both, around .5 grains at a time. You may get more accuracy going either way.

I think I'll probably do that. Probably not down as this was low end already. This data came from Sierra. Lyman's low end is 16.8. The Hodgdon website says as low as 15.7.

I don't think I'll want it moving slower...but hey, you never know.

Just a heads up on Win 296. I seem to recall reading in a Win manual many years ago that 296 is one of those powders that was designed for full power loads in 44 mag and 357 mag. It's not for reduced loads and can do weird things if you go under the recommended amount in whatever cartridge you're loading. I remember it's one of the reasons I never wanted to start using it (too touchy).

Good to know. I started at 16.1 because of what is in the linked PDF.
