I finally saw a steel cased 22lr today.
Said made in Russia.
Anyone know anything about them. I looked online and it's apparently either great or junk. Anyone ever fire any of it before.?
My curiosity got the better of me and I bought a box of 50 to see for myself.
But with work picking up it'll be a while before I get out to the range.

Re: Steel cased 22lr
Picks would help. The early 90s saw a crap ton of steel cased Russian .22 imported. It was basically only good for manually operated guns. It had a thick greasy coating on the the entire cartridge. The packaging usually was just a giftwrapped type of plain heavy paper secured with a staple and a label. The cases were usually black.
But supposedly Wolf imported a much better grade of .22 in more recent years.

The "Junior" is the lowest end Russian 22 LR. If you can get hold of some "Olimp," it is the best 22 LR in the world. To top that, TsNITOCHMASH will LASER-mike your barrel and chamber and build a specific lot of .22 LR Ammo for your particular rifle, for the right price, of course.
