I had one in 20002. The cost of the class was $30. Renewed it when that one expired I didn't renew it.

Re: Do you have a current valid AZ CCW/CWP
As I have posted, I have continuously had an Az, CWP (not CCW-thanks Harrier) since 2002.
I find it extremely convenient for bypassing the NICS system 'wait time', when buying from a FFL. Worth having one just for that, IMO.
FFL sellers luv it when I pull it out for a purchase!

First Az permits were in 94 and were good for 4 years. I had to shoot to re qualify in 1998. I already had credentials to carry in all 50 states in 94 through work at the trucking company which carried dangerous cargo but I still had to do the background check for firearms so I took the class, instructor knew who I was as he trained us at the trucking company and signed me off on the spot, still took the class though with a couple other guys from work and a friend of mine. I believe there were close to 100 people in the class I took and he was booked solid for months.shooter444 wrote: ↑August 8th, 2018, 10:16 am As I have posted, I have continuously had an Az, CWP (not CCW-thanks Harrier) since 2002, the first year Az offered one.

I believe the Az permit was a FU to the feds for the brady law. Only thing I bought between the Brady law passing and the AZ CWP passing was machine guns and from individuals. I have never had a Brady check.

Just curious , what wait time are you talking about?shooter444 wrote: ↑August 8th, 2018, 10:16 am As I have posted, I have continuously had an Az, CWP (not CCW-thanks Harrier) since 2002, the first year Az offered one.

I don't have a cwp and have never had to wait when purchasing a gun.
It takes about 5 minutes for the FFL to do the check and thats it.

Never had one, never will. No gov't permission slip needed. The political victory of getting the permit thing passed back in 94' was important,...as a step towards eventually obliterating weapon laws all together. But I'll be sheep-dipped and rolled in fire ants before I ever beg the crown.

Ballistic Therapy, five minutes isn't bad, but before I had a CWP, I can remember 15 to 20 minute waits. Today, I don't even want to put up with a 5 minute wait.
And, thanks for the correction.
Suck My Glock, I truly can understand any proud and active Patriot thinking as you do. But, if the truth be told, one man's food is another man's poison. I look at these CWP cards as a government service purchase, not a permission slip. Kind'a like a driver license, social security card, credit card, debit card, triple AAA, etc. etc., they make my life a little easier, that's all.
Can they all be used against us?
ABSOLUTELY!!!
BUT,.... name something that can't?
If I prevented everything from coming into my life, that could turn around and bite me in the ass,.. I would have to live like a monk!

From time to time the NICS system goes down for a while which is a PIA for people and you can get delayed because your name is similar to some dirtbag's name or something like that.
My CCW gets me past that and that's all I care about. The second biggest thing about the Az permit is reciprocity in thirty some odd states. And lastly, the ability to carry in a quality restaurant as long as I don't imbibe.
All good things for me.

No joke... the first time I waited 30 minutes for background, I signed up for a CCW the next day... now it takes longer for them to package the gun up than it does anything else

well,....
"Would you be SOL on buying because you don't have one?"
... seems as though your premise is pretty much shot to hell, with the way your poll is turning out, looks like having one could be more common that you thought.

Re: Do you have a current valid AZ CCW/CWP
Of topic but a little on topic... weren’t at one time we required to send in our old CCW when renewing???
Re: Do you have a current valid AZ CCW/CWP
I still have my first one back when they were laminated and lasted the entire period of time.LuckyLeaky wrote: ↑August 9th, 2018, 8:10 pm Of topic but a little on topic... weren’t at one time we required to send in our old CCW when renewing???

I wouldn't necessarily say my premise (if that's what you want to call it.) is shot to hell, this is a shooting forum after all.shooter444 wrote: ↑August 9th, 2018, 8:06 pm well,....

I was just curious, and my poll turned out how I had hoped....with votes.
