Armslist Experiences

#1

Post by Roneyj »

Just wondering what everyone’s experience is with Armslist. I replied to two Glock 19 ads. They looked very similar and the responses were almost identical. After one reply each they both ghosted to me. Am I wasting my time there?

Thanks,

-JR

I've had some good interactions there, but I get the feeling that a ton of listings are scammers. I contacted someone on there about a gun a few days ago and I sent all the typical info. I'd like to buy, when are you available to meet, and so on. They never got back to me. I messaged them again today and said If they still had it that I was interested. Almost immediately they emailed me back and asked where I was located. I told them I was in Phoenix, and then I never heard back. I think what they were hoping is that I was in another state so that they could scam me into buying it in a scenario where I pay digitally, and then never get the gun. They could be in Nigeria after all. Who knows if that's what was really going on, but I've had so many weird interactions like that.

You have to research a little bit, I always check their other ads and if someone does reply to my email after we cordinate something I always ask to talk to them on the phone, sometime it’s by text...you usually get the feel of a decent person when u chat with them...but yeah be careful cause there’s lots of scammers...

Every time I have tried anything on the site I’ve had issues, finally gave up and I’ve done all of my buying/selling with friends or new friends I meet on this site.

Not worth the headaches in my opinion.

Sold a bunch on Armslist over the past few years. Only time I’ve tried to buy something, I got no answer to my emails.

Its about as flaky as anywhere else. I've done plenty of deals on there with no problem. Had plenty of ghosting no-shows on other places too.

lots of people are very flakey. Also, just be very cautious. Tons of scammers that will ask you to ship the gun to some random FFL and they are going to send you a check or something like that. I usually use Armlist to set up an inperson local sale. Thats the safest bet imo

I have sold items on there with no problems and the one time I bought off that site I didnt have an issue.

They have the "premium vendor" status for some of the dealers which I would assume means they are a legit business

Pretty much the same as everyone else. For every good interaction there are 3-4 no replies or communication just stops for no apparent reason. Just be patient and you will find what you are looking for.

When Armslist first came out I both bought and sold without a problem.
Now for some reason I can't respond to adds.
When I want to respond it says to log in. I can not log in no matter what I do.
I tried to contact them and they will not let me.

I have no problem posting an add , I can post all the adds I want , but can not respond to other adds.
There is something wrong with that.
I just gave up and haven't used them in quite awhile.

The price I see for things lately I would rather go to a dealer anyway.

Always run when the ad is local and they are out of state, or just play them a bit ask for more pictures just to make them have to download some. there is one up here now for a FAL I ask if it is the Israeli he says yes and sends pictures of a standard Springfield that is how I know he was a scammer.

Everything I have called on has been a bust. At least when backpage was up 95% of what I called on was a good buy. Everyone showed up and great transitions. Armlist 98% failure rate.

I've bought from one dealer on there, called the # in the ad. It was a pawn shop, had a great deal on a nice .22LR revolver. Went down picked it up, nice lil plinker.

I wonder the legality of putting on a mini get together where people bring guns to sell.
