I would like to know how to empty/unload a square deal powder container. I ran out of brass and still have powder in the powder measure tube, ( the clear plastic/glass holder). Any ideas would be helpful.
Thanks,
Thom
Emptying a square deal powder measure container?
Re: Emptying a square deal powder measure container?
Believe it or not, you have to remove the failsafe rod, then loosen the clamp on the measure, then remove the measure and pour the remaining powder into the powder keg, probably using a funnel.
I know, mickey mouse, but that's the way it is.
Then go to Unique Tek and buy the Powder Measure Drain-N-Change Tool so you never have to do the mickey mouse stuff again.
http://uniquetek.com/product/T1347
$17.95
While you're at unique tek, buy a micrometer bar for the powder measure too so you can get away from the other mickey mouse part of the powder system, the 7/16" wrench to adjust the drop.

Flash sounds like one of those clowns on the infomercials that makes simple, everyday tasks seem so difficult. He forgot his pitch about Lee being superior to everything though.
Take off the powder measure and dump it back in the container. It takes 3 seconds...

I have had Flash help me many times over the years. To call a man like him a "clown", just shows your lack of intelligence. Have you ever taken off a hopper from a Square deal press?

I never said he was a clown. I said his description of the process sounded like the clowns on the infomercials that blow things way out of proportion.
And yes, I've loaded on a SDB for the last 12 years. You pull one pin and turn an Allen wrench left about 5 times. Do the opposite and it's right back on. No need buy anything that turns it into a 20 step process.

It's really sad that a press that costs so much is so poorly designed that you have to go to an aftermarket supplier to get the things you need to make it right. Dillon has what has got to be the only powder dispenser on the market where you need tools to remove it and use a wrench to adjust the powder drop. Every powder dispenser I own (except my Dillon) came with a micrometer adjustment included in the price.
I don't own any of Unique Tek but I have bought things from him in the past and it's all high quality.
And I've got the Accountant on ignore so I don't see his posts. It's a great tool.

Pull the cotter pin holding the rod to the bellcrank on the powderthrow.
Remove the allen screw and cast retainer holding the powderthrow to the die.
You have 3 loose pieces to lay on the table...
Remove and dump into container, actuate the bellcrank a couple times to clear the bar.
Reverse to re-assemble.
It literally took more time to type this than to do it.
