I purchased some Winchester Xpert .22 Lr at Walmart a few months ago in the bulk pack.
I have to say is is absolute junk.
It fired OK if you could get it to go into the chamber.
About one out of every two or three would not fit into the chamber.
A few would not go in at all.
The bullet is too big around to fit into the chamber.
I tried it in 4 different pistols and two rifles.
Ruger MKII
Ruger Single Six
Ruger Bearcat
S&W hand ejector
Remington single shot rifle
Marlin 39 rifle
In all of the guns I had to force just about every other round into the chamber in order to fire it.
In the revolvers It had to be forced into the cylinder.
After it fired it would eject just fine.
Just to clarify , my guns were clean when I started.
A couple friends of mine also bought some and had the same problems.
Other brands of ammo worked just fine in my guns.
So if anyone needs some 22 I have another box of it I will never use.

Re: Winchester Xpert .22 LR AMMO is JUNK
All the Winchester .22 ammo I’ve bought lately has been substandard.
Winchester Power Point used to be my favorite hunting ammo but lately I’ve been very disappointed in the entire Winchester line of .22 ammo. Their quality control has deteriorated and accuracy and reliability are mediocre at best.
I had a KABOOM with a round of Power Point a few weeks ago that was clearly the result of a defective cartridge. It was most likely a powder overload. In my half century of shooting .22s, I’ve never seen a case failure of that magnitude. Fortunately, it didn’t damage my gun but I did catch a face full of spray.
I mistakenly thought Winchester might be interested in what happened with their product so I took some photos of the blown cartridge case and the lot number on the box. I sent these photos to Winchester “customer service” over two weeks ago and have not received a response from them to date.
Obviously, they don’t care.
So Winchester is now off my shopping list. I’ll stick with CCI and Aguila.

I don't buy Winchester at all anymore. Quality control has gone into the crapper.

Interestingly enough I was just reading on another board where a member had just scored 2,000 rounds of this at a good price.
Looks like the price may not be good enough.

Re: Winchester Xpert .22 LR AMMO is JUNK
I posted some results I had with some Winchester ammo a while back. Two cases split at the primer end and one blew completely off. For the first one Winchester refunded me the cost of a carton and paid for the shipping to return the remainder. The second two happened with a different carton. I figured to use the remainder for practice (with eye protection). I think I will be purchasing a different brand from now on.

I don't know if it will create more wear on my rifle or not, but I don't buy 22LR ammo that isn't hi velocity. For semi autos and it's just too frustrating when they won't cycle.

If it won’t work in a Marlin Rifle then something is seriously wrong with it. My last marlin could shoot practically anything I threw at it, granted it would be really dirty after...

This ammo fired and ejected just fine once you got it into the chamber.
The problem is that the bullets are too big around to fit into the chamber of the gun.
After you forced them into the chamber they would fire fine.
In a semiautomatic they would get stuck going into the chamber and the bolt would not close all the way.
