Do we need another outdoor range in the Phoenix Metro area?

It seems to me that almost every weekend ran match I shoot fills up on Practiscore within a day (if not hours), and that there is almost not a day of the week that I can't find multiple matches all over town. Do we need another range venue in the Phoenix Metro? Kinda seems that way to me...

It would be in BFE like BA and RSSC.

Not that distance is what keeps me from the range. I'm less than 5 miles from PRGC....

More would be better (at least as far as options go), but I don't think it would necessarily lighten the load. Build more ranges, there'll just be more matches. Kind of like adding lanes to a freeway; traffic doesn't seem to be lighter when there's more room.

Unfortunately, any new outdoor range would have to be on the outskirts for most people...I remember when BA was really in the middle of nowhere...not its 1/2 mile from a In-N-Out. Rio Salado used to be in BFE...now it's less than 1 mile from homes....same with Phoenix Rod & Gun.

I agree with WRMorrison...new range just means new matches, just as busy as the current places. It would be difficult for a new range to find days/times that wouldn't overlap with current range matches, but maybe people who were closer to a new range wouldn't go to the matches at the far away range, compared to their location. e.g., I live 20 minutes away from Rio Salado, so I don't usually go shoot matches at BA or PRGC.

I just moved to AZ and heard it was the all about shooting, but I have to drive +2 hours to get most of my rifle practice in and the long range rifle matches are really lacking. PRS/NRL (centerfire & 22lr) type shooting is the fastest growing of all shooting sports, but there is much here. Seems we are still not considered important.

Golf may be stupid, but golf courses are run as businesses, and make men very rich, that's why there are so many. Most gun ranges are subsidized and run at a loss. Not as many people would shoot if it cost as much as a round of golf anyway. JMO after being involved with the operation of a gun range. YMMV

Most gun ranges are like putt-putt golf, and cost about the same. The LR matches I like to shoot are more like a PGA course and cost about the same or more (w/ammo).

if the Native Americans were more business oriented, would be great if they ran a higher end outdoor facility. but history being what it is, and casino with its easy money makes everything less look like too much effort. and speaking of effort... well I won't go there.

there was a 100 yard indoor range in San Antonio back in the mid 90s, it quickly went out of business. Gun guys can be cheap.

C2 tactical is a 10 minute drive from my house, as a result most of my shooting has become pistol caliber focused which is a shame as I like to shoot longer distances. But a journey to the overcrowded public range at Rio is minimum five hour ordeal with drive time included.

They used to operate the trap & skeet range up by Red Mountain...it was great, used to go there every Thursday night with a bunch of friends to shoot 5 stand. Not sure why they shut it down, I heard the lady that run it retired and no one in the tribe wanted to take over.

100 yard indoor seems like a no brainer in the Phoenix metro. It gets stupid hot here. There were 2 open to the public and 3 private in the area I lived in.

where was that? I thought 100 yard indoor ranges were fairly rare. I have only visited one and that is the aforementioned one that closed.
