It would be a great step in the right direction if schools had signs that read "Armed staff present" instead of Gun Free Zone. That alone would be a deterrent for some of the would be shooters.

Agreed - however, this is not in line with the liberal agenda. Doing the right/correct thing just cannot happen in their view.

From just about everything I have read .. the opposition is just getting it wrong.

Nothing I have read suggests that teachers be "mandated" to receive training and perform the role of security.
If that were the case .. I would be against it.

There are people who nurture and people who nurture but can double as sheepdogs. They are not always the same people. I dont want a good teacher excluded because they aren't a sheepdog. I think the education system is already bogged down with a bunch of stuff they shouldn't be.

However .. that is not what is being discussed. All of the legislation is for something that in my estimation never needed legislating. If you had some training and earned your CCW and are allowed to carry everywhere else in your life and want to be allowed as a teacher to carry in school or to keep a gun handy .. that should have already been a given.
