This is new. Never heard this discussion before.
At least it’s a real gun topic then the bickering over Fn politics and BS.
I need more 1911s in my life. I don’t carry one but love to shoot ‘em. Not that they are not a good carry gun it’s just not for me is all. I prefer a couple others for edc rather then my 1911s. I just dug mine out hiding recently to shoot it. I forgot how much I enjoy shooting it!

If 1911's are "antiquated", I don't ever want to hear it from anyone that owns a bolt action.
If someone made a 1911 the size of my Sig P365 that holds 12 rounds of 9mm in a gun 1" wide or less, I'd certainly consider it. But such a 1911 doesn't exist. In my opinion, the smallest Officer sized 1911 is a poor choice for a daily concealed carry pistol. Can it work? Of course...but it isn't the best tool for the job.
The Smith & Wesson CSX's I have sold really fall into this category. I am cheap. I bought an AR a few weeks back and was so nervous. $600 on a Black Rain Spec 15 new, out the door. The CSX is a bit too rich for me. If I can get the right deal, like I did on the BRO, I would get one though. Very 1911'esque. 12 rounds with 1 mag, 10 with the other. All metal, has an actual hammer. Ambi safety and slide release. I like the trigger a bunch.

The one American Rifleman tested had a 7 lb trigger and very long reset.
Hardly comparable to even a GI 1911.
While I do not have a gauge, I would say the ones I have dealt have felt about 5, maybe 5.5 lbs with a very short travel. I am not a big S&W guy. When it comes to their semi's, I absolutely despise the SD line. The M&P's are novel in that you can swap the back straps so easy but I hate the trigger. The Shield and Shield Plus are decent if you get a Performance Center model because the trigger is vastly improved. The Shield EZ ... I can appreciate what they are trying to do but that grip safety is awful. If I could get a CSX for $400 or less, I likely would consider it, but like I said, I'm cheap.
I've been thinking about picking up a 2011. I've never owned one but there definitely seems to be a lot of Staccato love going around these days. I'm having a bit of trouble swallowing the bang/buck on them though. I'm a "buy once, cry once" type, but at ~$4k for an XC, I question if it really does anything my CZ TSO doesn't do at half the cost?
Also, for purely a range and possibly competition gun, is there any reason besides cost to consider the P?
