Re: Ham Radio Operators
I need to get my license but haven't found anyone to give me a run down of the basics. Interested in letting me pay you to show me the basics and help me setup a small portable?

Re: Ham Radio Operators
I could help you set up a radio and help you program it. But for the test. Go to hamstudy.com and start taking the practice tests. Once you start getting 85 or higher consistently go take the real test.

Re: Ham Radio Operators
KC7FQB - Been a HAM for around 20 years now. I am mostly into the digital modes and ARPS. Some times I will jump around on the repeaters or ECHO Link to see whats going on beyond my local repeater traffic.
Programming radios these days is a snap using CHIRP and a USB cable. Well at least the mobiles that I run in the vehicles.

Re: Ham Radio Operators
I've noticed a LOT of hams are shooters and some shooters are hams. Gadget hobbies. AR15.com has a ham radio forum. There was a special event station N8M at Camp Perry this year.

DRTDIVR: Join a local ham club and attend the meetings, mention that you want to learn the basic and how to set up the the radio, hams will help. I'll be glad to help out if we can find a chance to get together.... perhaps at a shooting range some time.

that's me at Camp Perry. an extremely rare photo of me on a shooting range WITHOUT a 1911 and on a radio WITHOUT a morse code key!

I'm in this picture too, taken about 200 yards from the other picture.

Extra Class Ham Radio operator since 1983. Mrs. Flash since 1990.
Re: Ham Radio Operators
KF7AEJ picked up the 2way bug again for SHTF. Strictly 2 meter VHF with a couple of handhelds and a couple of mobiles. The on line help tests are worth your effort to prep for any of the tests and for a couple extra bucks you can sit for the next level while there. Go for it.............
