H&K PSG1
First - I'm not selling this gun, I'm not buying this gun, I have nothing to do with this gun - other than being really curious as to why this is drawing the money it is drawing. If this post is in violation of any rule please delete it... or let me know and I'll delete it (or edit it to "null")...
With that said... I stumbled on this ad when looking for something else on GB - and was about fell out of my chair at the current bid (currently $33,525.00 )...
https://www.gunbroker.com/item/931384979
I get that the price (particularly on an auction site) is a function of supply and demand - what I can't get my head around is why someone would pay that much for a rifle in that class. If this had a happy switch... I'd understand the price... but it doesn't. I presume that few of these made it to the US - and few enough that the hard-core HK fanboy collectors are all fighting over this one... but $33K? Seriously?
What am I missing?

Re: H&K PSG1
Dang. I had the opportunity to buy one for $3000 in the early 2000s. I thought it was ridiculously priced then. Now I'm kicking myself.
I also had chances at a $900 Mark 23, $650 P7M8, $800 P7M10 and P7M13, and $500 P9S pistols. Oh well.

I mean its cool and id love to have it, but yea that's out of my comfort zone by about 30K. I assume those were always semi only and its an original military issue piece? I am not an HK collector so not sure of the market on something like that. I will say prices on all the Para Military stuff has jumped tremendously. Even some HK-91's are topping 7500.00 or more.

Re: H&K PSG1
The PSG-1 is right up there with the Walther WA-2000 rifle in the Unicorn rifle department. I think the last WA-2000 I saw for sale went for over $70K.

Not all people have to work, some of them like guns also. Think there is a lot of bidders who view this as damn shame they don't have one or two.

Re: H&K PSG1
It's also likely the person bidding $36k will not pay.

Re: H&K PSG1
I actually got to handle one of those (yes, the real deal) a number of years back.
I liked his Hk21E's more (yes, plural). Lots of other cool toys hanging out in his shop.

Re: H&K PSG1
I was offered a complete PSG1 package for 8K back in the late 90's but thought it was way to much. If only I had a time machine.
Many years later I ended up buying an HK SR9TC for almost 7K

Re: H&K PSG1
I got to do some long range shooting with one years ago and it was nice but nothing spectacular. The reason for the price is the rarity, in the world of tactitubby HK fanbois it is a small price to pay to achieve certified "power bottom" status

I’ve put a few magazines through one also a while back. Unimpressive. My Larue OBR is a fraction of the cost as much more accurate.
It’s all about HK fanbois with too much money.

Re: H&K PSG1
I'd buy one and roll around with it in my Honda Ridgeline while blasting Twisted Sister with all my windows rolled down and my ponytail blowing in the wind...
