Don't know why you'd want a pistol in 308,,, but to each his own.
I'd choose the Saint for the same reasons above...

IMO... Like the HK91, the PTR91 uses a fluted chamber causing deformed brass for reloading, field stripping the roller system in the field without special tools is a PITA and it is constantly dirty from all the blowback.

The FAL, while a favorite of mine is just an old war horse now and aftermarket accessories are harder to find. The mags are getting expensive too.
That's gonna have one hellova fireball and blast from the short barrel...

lol, yeah as you thought, i don't get the 308 pistol couple of the fellas who come shoot with us, have one, and the jist is after a few try outs at the shooting day, haven;t seen most of them bring them out in a years, i've never shot one, and don't intend to, a pistol is a pistol i guess. happy days

The FN FAL in a pistol. I can get a lot for it and with a lightweight paratrooper kit for it, I don't need a butt stock.

I've shot a shorty HK91 before. HOLY CHRIST that sucker was a punishing little beast.

I'd have to say that the only one of these I'd trust to run despite the short barrel with a wide variety of ammo is the FAL,...as long as it wasn't a DSA product, that is. Early DSA products were great, but anything in the last 8 years is suspect now. If you don't know the story behind that, just consult Gunplumber (T. Mark Graham) of Arizona Response Systems. He has shown the ugly light of day of that trainwreck and there has been much documentation of the saga over on FALfiles and on ARS's website archives.

I do love and prefer AR10s,...but the whole AR family has a history of getting temperamental when you shorten the barrel and gas system, which is what originally brought about the whole piston-driven conversion thing with ARs.

At least with the AR platform you could probably pick up a used one cheap (shot once, dropped once) and easily replace the barrel with a sensible 18"~20" tube...
