This is a good reason to eradicate feral hogs.
What a shame.
We raised hogs when I was a kid.
We had two hogs that got the taste for blood and they started killing chickens , ducks , geese and even a couple cats . They would kill them and lick up the blood and then go to another one.
We couldn't hardly keep them in the fence. We ended up having to kill them.

They still wont go all in on just letting people, safely, shoot them and leave em. You still need a license and cant waste the meat.

Invasive species arent a resource to manage. Everyone will have to realise this or this huge hog problem will never go away. At least let the hunters toss the carcasses in the trash. The numbers in many areas would go down quick.

The damage hogs to to resident species thru habbit destruction is serious and needs to be addressed.

Florida is realizing this with some of their snakes and other invasive species. They are letting licensed hunters shoot shoot a couple of the bigger lizard species just about anywhere and even paying bounties in some places.

Well feral hogs, python's, iguana's, lionfish, the list goes on. They are all destroying the places they inhabit. Hunters shouldn't need to use the meat. They are doing the state a service.

Florida is finally starting to wise up since 3 of those species are destroying their state. Hopefully others follow suit.
