I have earthlink dial up internet.
$12.00 a month.
It doesn't have all the thrills of the others but it works just fine for me.
Dial up??? 5200baud or what?

I don't know what you mean but I plug my phone line into my computer modem and it connects me to the internet.
It's not real fast but neither am I anymore.
Do you really mean dial up? Where you hear all these old school fax connection noises each time you connect or do you have DSL which also goes over phone lines?

Last I remember of "dail up" was decades ago and it took a half hour to download just a couple of pictures from the internet. Something I think would be hardly viable for the current graphic intensive web.

5200 baud is a modem speed...a REALLY slow one by today's standards. Your modem should have a speed printed on it somewhere.

Yes it's dial up.
You hear lots of noises when you turn it on.
It takes a long time to load up pictures.
There is nothing written on the modem. It is just a little white box about an inch or so square that plugs into my computer and the phone line plugs into it.
There were no other options where I live when I got it and satellite was too expensive.
My wife bought a new fancy phone and we can see pictures and videos on it.

Well kudos to you for suffering through that in order to get online. That's some real dedication.

Once upon a time, I had dial up. Once you move up the food chain, you don't really have the patience to go back to dial up. In fact, when my satellite runs out of data and slows down is still faster than dial up. But to each his own and at $12 a month, I can say I envy that.
