I think we are all missing the big picture: Nobody should need a permit to exercise a right. Is your state permit to be Catholic/Baptist/Jewish/Muslim recognized by other states? What about your state permit to read books?

How would the lefties feel about a state permit to get an abortion?

Actually, there's no "constitutionally protected right" to have sex or procreate, so let's make everyone get a license to have sex and to have a child    If there are abortions with no permit, then off to jail they go. :D Would kinda eliminate the need to "outlaw" abortion at that point. And yea, I want similar restrictions on their "rights" as they want on mine.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

I don't disagree - and I've not had one for a couple of decades. I WISH that the constitution were taken at face value - it should be - and "shall not be infringed" means what it says. I'm also pragmatic enough to recognize that if I carry concealed in California and have an interaction with law enforcement - I'm probably going to catch a charge in that state - possibly a felony - which would then mean that, if convicted, I'd be breaking AZ / Federal law by carrying.

I've decided to get a CCW for two reasons...
1) I'm starting to travel a bunch more and some of that travel takes me into states that don't honor constitutional carry - and I hope that if national reciprocity goes through, I'll be able to legally carry when I have to go to Commieforniastan, Oregon, or Washington - which is happening more frequently.
2) The ability to purchase firearms through FFLs without creating another record in the federal governments supposedly nonexistent tracking system. I realize that it's against the law for them to track gun purchases - and I also have little enough trust in the bureaucratic state's reverence for the law that I think it's more likely than not that they've got some sort of tracking database - and I'd prefer to have fewer records in it as opposed to more.
