Hawaii will find a way to ignore the law, they have been ignoring Supreme Court decisions on the 2A for a long time.

I have refused to permit their anal exam to get a CCW here. Carrying here is usually under the "ainokea" law.

Love gettng back to Arizona and carrying freely. That freedom is why I got a place there.

You’re not going to get nationwide carry until SCOTUS rules on it.

They may pass a federal law, but states will either ignore it or create state level laws to restrict it and make it worthless. That will lead to court cases to make the applicability final.

You thin CA, NY, MD aren’t going to go petty and try and hamstring it? Look what NY did after they lost their CCW cases. Sure you can get a CCW, you just can’t carry a gun anywhere.

Exactly what Hawaii did sfter the SC spamked them :

Once you jump through all their hoops and anal exams for a license, laws were passed so you cannot carry much of anywhere but your house, just like before.

The court challenges will go on longer than most will be alive for.

IMO, I think you are mostly right that the liberal platform will do everything they can to get around any kind of a law, but I also think what it might do is further enforce the facts to democratic supporters, who are already leaning right, that the Democratic Party is the party against the normal citizen. One more nail hopefully in the coffin of the Democratic Party.

untethered by a next election- he should remove any gun law contrary to the 2nd Amendment
then ill be a Trumper- i voted for him this time out of sheer anticipation of him running amok ripping up unjust laws - next is pardoning J6 folks
but if he can dissolve ATF IRS NFA.. and watever alphabet orgs that actively work to destroy our constitution- wat a dream

If he can get that through Congress, I will forgive him for bumpstocks.

Even I agree with you on that.

I have to say, this is far more believable than when George Bush The Lesser was quietly spreading this same bit around before the 2000 election, but not out of his own lips. He just wanted to get the 2nd Amendment crowd motivated without having his own promise used against him when he didn't deliver, and instead relied on Grover Norquist and the NRA board occupiers to murmur it as if it were an actual admin position. Unlike that cowardly bit, Trump has come forward and declared it out of his own mouth,...not as a piece of cheese to bait the trap before the election,...but when such a promise is not even needed to motivate anyone anymore. I'm willing to pay MUCH more attention to such a declaration now than anything he said prior to the election.

Lots of path to walk between here and signature - but the odds of getting it done are better now than they have been in my adult lifetime... Fingers crossed that we'll get GOP leadership in the house and senate that have the balls to actually take action.

I saw a post with folks chattering that Trump should nominate Brandon Herrera to head the ATF...

My initial response was to almost spit my drink out my nose...

Then I thought... "but what if it happened!!!!" :D :D :D :D

Reminds me of the scene in BACK TO THE FUTURE when Marty McFly tells Doc that the current President is Ronald Reagan. "THE ACTOR?!?!?! Pfft!!"

Trump is clearly doing a bit of trolling (well - maybe "thumb in the eye" at least) with some of his nominations. Herrera made a legitimate pass at a congressional seat, and is clearly more knowledgeable in the area of firearms than the current ATF head (I've seen the guy embarrass himself a few times with his total lack of firearms knowledge - I'm guessing that he's an anti-gun activist). When I think about it seriously I guess Herrera is probably not the best candidate for the job - but it would be delicious.

Maybe he could find someone like Mark Smith (the lawyer that does the Four Boxes Diner 2A Law youtube channel)? Imagine getting a constitutional originalist / absolutist lawyer in that seat - and pair him up with someone adept at navigating the swamp... he could do some real good... and it would still be a healthy troll on the anti-gunner types...

:-)

And just like that... I've submitted paperwork to get my AZ CCW again... I was pleasantly surprised to find that I could simply submit my DD-214 in lieu of having to go to "training" again...

I did not know that could be done.

Went through an online CCW course, but now consider it just added info.
The legal crap is not covered in what gets you a DD214.......

Agreed - that there is value in having deadly force education as well as the legal education specific to the law in AZ as part of the CCW. If you've never been through something like that - it's worth doing. I just found it nice that I did not have to go to a class. I've been through deadly force instruction a few times and can read the CCW law for myself.
