Springfield Saint .308 ???

It looks great on paper.
Has anybody tried one yet?
Fairly light for A.R. 10.
I think I want one, but curious if you’ve experienced one.

I am very interested. I have an Armalite AR10, but it has the target barrel, and weighs 10 pounds bare (vs. <8 for the Springfield). With loaded mag, scope/mount and sling, it is more than I want to haul around.

I too would like to know if anybody has one, and can report on it.

Got to handle one at a local shop...to me it seemed like someone went through and added most of the upgrades you'd want and then charged an extra 10% for it. I bet the appeal is to the buyer who wants to walk in and pay something then just go shoot it and it already looks cool and functions as you'd want. So if you fall into that camp, then I bet this will be right in your ally.

I too have been investigating this. I cannot build it for less than this (with quality components I come out to around $1,400) and I surely cannot get a finished product down to this weight (best I can do is 8 pound 9 ounces). Part of that is the barrel but it's hard to find a lightweight barrel i want. I digress... At $1,150-$1,200 and no tax you can't really say it's overpriced by 10%. My last piece of info I need is if, like the DPMS G2, it uses a mixture of SR25 and AR15 pieces/parts, or if any of it is proprietary fit/thread pitch/etc. That's the only thing that has slowed me down.

I don’t think it’s over priced for what you get. I don’t mind building, but as said above, I cant build a decent one cheaper or lighter.

Sure I’d prefer a POF Revolution. But at $2600, I could buy two of these.

One of my guys ordered one in and we shot it this morning. I slapped a high end vortex on it and was able to shoot a half inch group at 100 with it locked in the sled. Nice rifle for the price with a pinned on gas block. Shoots about the same recoil wise as my Colt 901 rifle in 308 or my Knights rifles. Nothing wrong with Springfield.

If you have the opportunity, could you plop it onto a scale and tell us what it weighs "all up" -- scope, loaded magazine, the works?

I can answer that. I accidentally bought one... Very, very pleased with function. Brand new, with a cleaning and lube beforehand, it ran flawlessly through 6 mags. I paid $1,132, another $14 for insurance, and $20 for transfer (although I felt bad about having it shipped to Quentin Defense; I did apologize to them but they're too nice to be offended).

With the sling, loaded 20 round mag, 1-6 illuminated scope (I assume the electronics add some weight?) and Burris PEPR QD mount, the rifle weighs 12.2 pounds, so a full 4.4 pounds of extras on there. But still not too bad.

The pic below is a target at 50yd during sight-in, using factory Prvi 147 ball. I did not play around with the gas port adjusting because I have to find a load it really likes, then once I've developed that, I can fiddle around and adjust the gas.

Recoil was gentle, but the brake won't make you any friends (in this case, both my son and my son-in-law were not real happy with me!). I know it sounds petty but it made such a nice little pile of brass that it made me happy at the end of the trip.

I hated the trigger that came with it, so I replaced it with a Geissle SSA-E which I put on every AR.

I'm happy enough with the accuracy but I couldn't get out any further to see what the real MOA is. When I do I would be happy to update this, but for now, at 50 with the cheapest factory ball I could find, I'm pleased enough with accuracy. Those are 5 shot groups.

Let me know if there's anything else, but in general, this is an excellent rifle, and definitely a keeper. VERY pleased; just not done testing limits!

Also, if we know each other (or share a referral in common), I would be more than happy to loan it to anyone to take out and test before you buy.

Also, dang... I forgot to weigh it with a 25 round PMAG, sorry. Just the 20's. One last thing: I took a video of my son shooting it to show the nearly non-existent muzzle rise, but I have no flippin idea how to post it. If you PM me your number (I'm speaking in general, to anyone) I can text it to you, or someone can post or PM me how to do a video that's on my phone. But be explicit!
