Phoenix,
Pretty good question, has all this physical violence been present all along against just about everyone, and not been part of the news cause of the hatred for Trump, or. is it real and increasing, one would think the reaction by law enforcement would be considerable, but in regards to this trying time on the coppers, why should they, so, does Joe citizen deal with the issue at hand

Example is phoenix pd chief more or less said traffic is not an issue, but lets visit this for a minute, one cannot be too careful at a stop light, or sign, one must be ever vigilant for those who believe they can BEAT the red,
just last nite a phx pd officer was wacked by a red light runner, rumor is both are deceased, high speed runner, which lets face it, most runners are. I'm surprised there isn't more accidents, or pedestrians being wacked.
another example i live in the SEC of greenway parkway area, one of the areas they deverted traffic today to closure at cave creek road and greenway parkway, i had to literally pull a trailer out and bottle neck street to get the idiots to slow down my street, even gave a gaggle the special No. 1 salute, buncha ass holes, like to know where their hood is so i can sache' lickety split down it.

anyways, the violence being reported, and one should really take note; almost all of it has been on elderly people, so let it be known, we are victims ( im considered elderly), time to be vigilant and protect ones self as needed with what ever means is my thought

ideas, direction, any einsteins here who have an answer

I'll be your poor mans einstein RJ. I think it has a lot to with the " I'm above the law" and the participation trophy kids that are now adults that don't care about others. Any excuse except for taking responsibility for their own actions. Now not everyone is like that, but you have to watch out for every dum sheet around you anymore. Like you said, you have to be vigilant always anymore.

I wouldn't claim to be Einstein or have half a brain so here is some stupid...

Statistically I think the 70's through 90's was significantly more violent especially during the crack attack.

But it was different. Most of it was criminal on criminal or violence to meet a perceived need like robbery or mugging where there was a goal attached and booty to be had.

The violence I read about now is different. It's not Joe mugger going to bash you a couple times to try for your wallet.

It's regular old people with little to no impulse control. It's grown up temper tantrums. I think Thom hit it on the head. Years of helicopter parenting and participation awards have made a couple generations with zero tolerance and they lash out like spoiled children. All these fights at airports and restaurants?? What gives.

Remember that little fat kid that was running around inside the restaurant 15 - 20 years ago annoying everyone else in the place and you wondered why his parents didnt swat his azz and make him sit down.

Well now he/she is grown and no one taught them how to act or how to have respect for others. Little darling angel was never taught that there is appropriate behavior, decorum and times to fight and times to bite your tongue and times you don't get your way.

If you have never been told no ... How would you have learned to get past it.

Now you read about someone not getting enough sause for thier fugin chicken nuggets and it's a Melee. Wierd.

The good news about being older is the disparity of force thing. It pretty much gives us the edge if we stay vigilant.

I wondered about that at age 73 with more than a few age related things going on, seemingly that disparity might work, but at 6'6 down to 6'4 now at 240 lbs ya think my size would offset old with limited movement. So I just dont know but I do keep real late hours and can tell ya the cirlce K around 2am is uncomfortable. Not going to get any fights that are not 130db loud or more.

Violent actions are about the same year to year with allowances for population growth. IMHO. Looks worse as the media reports distance trouble like it was local. I did not as a young adult(50s & 60s) remember news reports about shootings outside the Pacific Northwest(where I was born and worked). Then the reporting begin to change to get more sensational to get viewers. Lots of LBJ troubles with the burning of inner cities. Then it started to steamroll for the fight for viewers and the money that goes with them.
Two most important items to own, A gun & a backhoe

Carry on

Very few benefits of getting old.
One is a greater presumption of justification when using deadly force to defend yourself.
Another is Senior Coffee at McDonald's.

Lawlessness everywhere now days.

Civil Disobedience, and Lawlessness, sometimes, those things need to happen. There are many unconstitutional laws on the books, SCOTUS has not had them on the docket, because.........?

I'm good with some lawlessness, ATF might make many of us felons overnight in a few months.

Have a great, gun carryin', Kenpo day

Agreed....even more so if the State or Federal Government is going to continue to go against the Constitution making criminals/felons out of Law Abiding Citizens.
