From what I can see it looks like it got amended to just a $0 tax but you still have to go through the NFA to get paperwork approval. Anyone here know when this starts?

The OBBB eliminates the excise tax on suppressors, short-barreled rifles, short-barreled shotguns, and AOWs. Paperwork (Form 1, Form 4) still required, but that is very easy.

This is a massive step in the right direction.

I'll be in line at the suppressor store on that 90th day.
Here is what the bill amendment says;

(d) Effective Date.--The amendments made by this section shall
apply to calendar quarters beginning more than 90 days after the date
of the enactment of this Act.

90 days after July 4th (if bill is signed or "enacted" today), is October 2nd. The next "calendar quarter" begins January 1 (Q2). The Federal Calendar Q1 starts Oct 1st, so I don't think the new law will take affect until January 1st, 2026. I could be wrong, but that is how I read it.

I'll mark my calendar.

But how would you like to be in the business of selling suppressors right now? Everybody will be holding off, waiting for the tax to go away.

I'd be offering layaway. Any dealer would be smart to offer a layaway right now. The suppressor market is incredibly back ordered right now, this is going to make it worse.

That gives all the manufacturers time to crank up and stockpile. But perhaps some of those folks will wait until the court action obliterates the whole scheme.

My first question will be: When do I get my free form 1s for the several "braced" lowers I threw in?

Now that they are all free, and you have all the paperwork, what's the holdup??
