Always did, as much as it sucked I wasn’t afraid to reach up and make sure.
Also checking shoes/boots and taking away caps/hats.
Plus I never took another agents word that they had searched someone I was taking custody of.
I saw too many half ass the search due to complacency.

This right here.

If someone moved or squirmed during a pat down I knew right away they had something to hide.

I’ve seen shoe mid soles carved out below inserts to hide all kinds of things (mostly drugs/needles). I’ve found cash stitched into places in clothing (illegals did this a lot).

The individuals I found weapons on after the fact were generally extremely combative, and my peers were just happy to get them cuffed, so they “forgot” to search after the fact....
