The black Melonite version without a rail will be the most affordable starting at $1,350, the stainless option for $1,350, and the two-tone version without a rail for $1,425. Each of the railed versions of the Savage 1911 will cost $1,500 regardless of the finish...

Savage Marketing :

"Let's release a 1911, in at a typical price point, in a already super saturated market, full of manufacturers who have been in this market space for decades, in the most two common calibers, no optics capability, and lets not do anything to differentiate our product from 14937 other ones!"

Aaaaand - here we are. I am a fan of more models the better - but *yawn* My Kimber KHX custom was cheaper than that, and is optics compatible and arguably better looking. Sometimes I wonder what these companies are thinking.

As much as I love 1911's that price is really up there and judging by the serial number, it looks to be Turkish made. Nothing wrong with that except you can buy an all stainless Tisas 1911 for below $600 with tax all day. Their tactical 1911 in melonite sells for under $500. Girsan also builds some nice 1911's for the price.

InRange just reviews the >$400 A1 model Tisas and loved it. Coworker picked one up for like $389 and I was impressed with it. Felt way better than most entry level Springfields I have owned.

While the Turks can't build a shotgun to save their lives - they apparently have pistols down pretty good.

Turkish SN’s generally tend to start with T6424 for some reason…doesn’t look like that’s the case with the Savage. From other photos online, there doesn’t appear to be any import marks anywhere on the frame. Usually Turkish mfg marks are found on the bottom of the dust cover…nothing like that on the Savage.

But I agree it is crazy overpriced for the market. The Tisas 1911’s are actually very nice pistols for the money.

That seems priced high especially since it doesn't appear that the front strap comes checkered. It would seem to be a pretty poor marketing move since it'll be hard to gain much traction in such an overcrowded 1911 market.

I'd go out of my way to find a nice used Springfield TRP Operator before I'd ever consider that Savage. Even at street price of around $1,000-$1,200, I'd pass. It's a decent looking 1911, but it's missing important features.

Thanks be to God. Right between nuclear war and hyperinflation my greatest fear is too few gun companies selling 1911s.
