Ruger GP100 questions

So I have never owned a modern Ruger wheel gun and stumbled across a GP100 snub-nose and kind of like it. Looks tough and will be a glove box or nightstand gun for me.

Anyone have one they can share info about? Also, what's a fair price for one of these?

I had one for years and the only thing I didn't like about it was the lack of aftermarket grips.

They are great guns.
You can tie it behind your truck and drag it to the range , and it will still work.

agree you cant go wrong with one. They are great shooters that always go bang. I rarely shoot mine but when I do I wonder why I dont more often!

Mine is not a snubbie - that said - fantastic gun. Like [mention]Ballistic Therapy[/mention] said - I'm pretty convinced that short of hitting it with a cutting torch, welding the cylinder to the frame, or filling it full of concrete - if you put functional rounds in it, it is going to go bang when you pull the trigger. Mine is plenty accurate, fits my hand well, and as revolvers go it's my go-to gun.

I agree with the above and will add that there very easy to work on, fix, upgrade etc. I have found there to be lots of grip options out there. The SP101 is a smaller version of the same thing with similar reliability and design in a 5 shot package.

Blued in the 7's range, and s/s 8's, UNLESS it's a special edition Wiley Clapp with drift adjustable rear sight, then add buck-enna-half, easily. When all is said and done, it may be the only .357 revolver I hold onto, LOL. Agree that grips are not an issue, as the gun's been out a long time.

I just passed on a used SS gp100 4” at cabelas last weekend for $599..I wouldn’t pay more than that , just depends on how bad u want one..

I love mine but then I'm a Ruger fan as they fit my hand.
I'd say in the 500-600 dollar range.

Worth what your willing to pay, i paid 450-600 in the last 5 years, today i doubt your gonna find many in that range. But its possible. New is gonna be closer to 800 or more depending on model.

Now, it may not be what you're looking at but around 2 years ago I found a like new SS GP100, 3" in 44 special for $500, while talking to the seller he mentioned that I needed to hang on to it while firing, told him I shoot 44mag so it shouldn't be a problem.
After I get the gun home and I'm going over it a little closer I noticed that the front sight had a bash on it, I'm sure it flew out of someone's hand and hit the pavement didn't see any other marks, went to the Ruger site and filled out the gun info and asked to buy a replacement front sight, they sent me one for free, still have the gun and it's fun to shoot.

I have a 4" GP100 in .357 and I love it. I've had it for over a decade and it is just about the perfect gun. Good as a trail gun, good as a range gun, good as a nightstand gun. A little too much for concealed carry, but great for so many other applications. It fits my hand well and has handled any load that I've fed it.
