This should be interesting.

I listed an AR-15 a week ago with no reserve and started it for $0.01. It ends tomorrow night. I was curious what an AR would sell for in the current market with no asking price or artificial value attributed to it. Pure market conditions.

I probably should not have left the Bushnell FFP scope on it included in the sale, as that's a couple hundred itself that may not be accounted for in the end price. Oh well.

It's currently at about $300... do the GB auctions light up towards the end of the listing time, or is someone going to get a screaming deal?

Yeah, the strategy of auction stalkers is to wait until the last minute (literally) and then bid. There are plenty of programs (bots) that will do it automated. Been the scourge of ebay for over a decade.

Looks pretty good for a basic rifle I would think bidding will pick up before it ends. You should be able to see how many watchers you have on that auction and you have a bunch of different bidders so I think you will get an up tick at the end.

GunBroker will extend any auction for an additional 15 minutes with a bid in the last 15 minutes, so hard for the bots to steal a deal.

I am sure the price will go up.
Lots of people wait until the last few seconds of an auction to bid.
You can see how many people are watching it.
That tells you how many people are interested.
Some just to watch and some to bid.

It’ll probably end up getting sniped for about $1100, as others have said the bidding won’t really begin till the auction is closing.

Looking at the bidders list at least they all have multiple A+ feedback. I've had 4 or 5 nonrated bidders win my auctions this year and then ghost me. Good luck.

I can't lie that I *knew* that by posting this here, I'd get a couple people from here to probably bid on it - but yeah, my biggest worry is that I will get the "NR" bidders that are in it for the sport of winning, but then just disappear after winning it. Then, when you contact the runner-up, the first thing that they think of is "seller is trying to scam me".

But I truly did put this one up because I was curious how high it would go for without any restrictions or ballpark price attributed to it.

Gunslinger guesses it'll go for $1100. I think it'll end at ~$1K even.

As it gets close to the end of the auction, you can block the unrated bidders. Doesn't block their existing bid but they can't raise their bid.

Just because they have no rating doesn't necessarily mean they are fake bids.
I have sold more than one gun on Gunbroker and the winning bidder had no rating.

I agree - everybody has to start somewhere... but the chances of a "NR" bidder disappearing are significantly higher than another bidder with feedback, because they have nothing to lose if they get negative feedback from disappearing after winning.

Aren't shill bidders what everyone is always bitching about GB auctions. Make sure you're not the last man standing when the music stops.

And if you are, it magically gets relisted due to “buyer backed out”, with no negative feedback left for the high bidder.

Yeah - please do not artificially inflate the price. If you want to buy it and put a legit bid on it that you intend on honoring if you win it, that's fine - but please don't bid to bump the price. I don't want to end with an artificially inflated price on it that the winning bidder is an "NR" and ghosts me.

I did remove the link and I will put it back up once it finishes so you can see what it actually finished at.

I have one other AR I am going to sell that's similar to that one, but has flip-ups rather than the optic.

Picked up a SCAR 17s and needed to make some room in the safe.
