That is what the "Ignore" tab is for.
Exactly!
I’ll be using the new ignore feature.
One of the posts today was about New York, and the other was about home schooling. Several articles are just reviews of cheap chinesium scopes, or an outdated article from several years ago. Not exactly Arizona relevant.
The feature is there so it can be used!
The thread about NY that you referenced was removed shortly after it posted and query filter fixed because yes - for the most part, we don't need to know about local NY laws on an AZ specific forum. But that was just one post.
As for reviews, yeah, there is no way that I can tailor content on this site to only show content that QuietM4 likes. You might not care about inexpensive scope reviews or a review of a gun/accessory that came out 2 years ago - but that doesn't mean that others might not want to see such a review. You might only want to see reviews about high-dollar S&B or NF optics, but others might want reviews on 'cheap' optics. Just like some people on the site might not care about suppressors or the NFA at all, or care about another SIG P320 review for a gun that came out in 2014 - but others might. The same is said for stuff an actual person on this site posts. Someone here posted about CMP making new M1 Garands. Doesn't matter who posts it - some will be interested in that content, others wont.
The "bots" are just posting fresh, new content that humans are posting on other web sites that matches a certain filter. The 'bots' provide 2A-related news faster than we'd otherwise get and launching points for discussion topics that hopefully increase awareness or further discussion about things that are important or newsworthy.
For example, the ONLY reason that the HPA for removing suppressors from the NFA was included as part of the HR 1 that the House passed last week was because people shared the news about what was happening and made calls to representatives - and there was a very short window for that to be done. I bet that there were some people who were not aware of what was going on with that, and the automated news post about it helps increase awareness.
The best part is that like EarlCordova said, if any user (not just Ammoland or GOA) posts content you don't like or find objectionable, there's a fix for that!!
