Let's see where this goes. This bill shouldn't be needed. Civil asset forfeiture by the federal government should have never been allowed to begin with.

The text of this bill is a convoluted modification of the text of existing law. Will this bill be enough to rein in the government thugs? I don't know.

A new ruling by the Indiana Supreme Court states that plaintiffs in civil asset forfeiture cases have a right to JURY trials. Apparently, prior to this plaintiffs suing the government had their trials decided by a judge. This ruling only applies to Indiana but it could set a precedent for other states to follow.
