Yes, Cowtown is open. Private membership range. About $420a year plus $'s for range safety class.

YIKES, $420
Shooters World is $300 and you get free gun rental, unlimited time, lane reservations, 5% off everything in the store, and class discounts(many different kinds.)
There's a couple other things I'm not remembering currently...

THE DESERT
just pack out your crap, the brass whores will take care of the rest
If you are just out in the desert then pack out your brass as well. Don't leave it hoping that the next guy will want to pick it up.

Disagree - I love people that leave their brass behind. Like Sir Mix-a-Lot, I pull up quick to retrieve it.

That's if it is a known shooting spot. If it is a pristine area, then yes, pick up your brass because otherwise it is littering and will attract others to the spot and soon it will be over-run.

As someone who lives out in the desert here in 29 Palms and have had to deal with the random messes left by city boys coming out to the desert to shoot I disagree. Even at a known shooting spot leaving brass behind invites the less educated to think it is ok to leave other things behind. Shotgun hulls, targets, cans, bottle they shot, etc, eyc, etc

If someone else is shooting nearby, then ask them if they want your brass. Otherwise CLEAN UP YOUR OWN DARN MESS and that includes the brass.

on edit - Heck when I asked about places to shoot on the old forum all I heard from people was how they wouldn't tell me since they were afraid of other people trashing the places. Yet some aren't willing to put forth every bit of effort to try to prevent it from happening.

It was somewhat tongue in cheek. Are there any ball busters left out there anymore?
Speaking of which....Isn't 29 palms in Cali?, Is it even legal to have bullets within 500 feet of firearms anymore

I got the dig at brass whores (I am somewhat of one myself, hence why I just sold 1296 lbs of it) however as I mentioned people (especially new shooters) see the brass and think it's ok to just leave their entire mess. As I said I have seen lots of the mess left behind out here in 29 and listened to city people who think coming out to the desert means it's the wild west and none of the rules apply .

While CA does have pretty screwed up gun laws (part of the reason why I am now an AZ resident) now that I have lived in both CA and AZ I have found that strange as it may seem, it is EASIER to find places to shoot here in CA than it is in AZ. There is WAY more BLM land in CA and none of the State Trust kind that prohibits target shooting over large portions of AZ.
