Reminds me of the guy about 8 years ago who found some gold coins buried in a tin can. He shared his find with locals, one of whom remembered an old theft from the San Francisco mint in the late 20s of some unique gold coins. Upon cross-referencing the coins he had with the list of stolen coins, it was a match, and the feds confiscated his "stolen federal property". Dumfuc!!

If they were stolen from you , would it be OK for the finder to keep them or would you want them back ?
Personally I don't think I would keep them.
They wouldn't be worth that much to me.

Well, here's the thing. SOMEBODY may have come-a-lookin' for those one day.
Prolly a nefarious type, putting the residing family at-risk. At least now, with this
