Hey guy, I just got a Ruger Precision Rimfire and would like to put the best scope I can possibly put on it while still staying within the NRL22 “Base” category. It looks like they go off of retail price to not pass $1,200 in scope and rifle combined.

My rifle retails for $619 but it usually sells for about $489 these days, which is what I got it for from Sportsman’s. I’d like to put on a Vortex Strike Eagle 5-25x56 which is about $519 online. But unfortunately the retail price is $899!!! I don’t think anyone actually pays $900 for that scope since you can get them for so much cheaper.

Do you guys know how the NRL22 rules are really used when it comes to the prices?

Thanks!!!

I don’t get it.

It’s MSRP to $1200? Including tax?

NRL rules state that the listed MSRP of the rifle and scope cannot exceed $1200, combined. Tax does not apply.

Arken Optics is who you seek. I have the SH4 4-16x50 on my Bergara BMR. The scope if fantastic. MSRP is $299.99. Their flagship model, the EP5 has an MSRP of $529.99

Thank you, I’ll definitely look into the Arken.

I’ve also heard good things about the Bushnell Match Pro 6-24x50 Illuminated. It’s $399 and has zero stop, which I really want. I’d like to get the absolute best I can with the remaining $581 available before I hit the $1,200 cap.

You won't need a zero stop for NRL22. All you need is a christmas tree style reticle to compensate for drop, and to know your hold overs. You won't need to dial for any distance you will shoot at a 22lr match. The Arken has a zero Stop and illumination, for the record. Plus, matches aren't usually shot in low light, so the illumination isn't really needed.

I know I won’t need all these features for NRL22 but I’m trying to get as much scope for the available $581 (retail) remaining as I can. I may swap the scope over to my 5.56 one day or give it to my kid. May as well get the best scope I can afford for that money.
