Another thing we know is, there was NO SAFETY ISSUE of shooting through the door, because she hit her target and nothing else! If she had missed, and sent a bullet to who knows where,... yes, then we cold be talking about a potential safety issue.

By that logic there is no safety issue with driving drunk either then...as long as they don't cause a crash and make it home without hurting anyone.

While the article is unclear as to the type of door...shooting through an opaque barrier where you can't be sure of the bad guys exact position nor check for other people possibly being in line of fire is a text book example of a safety issue.

There was a shooting in Litchfield Park last year at this time, a drunk neighbor mistook the house supposedly, and I haven’t seen a follow up on any court action

Read the story in the op and it is sorely lacking in detail but the source is one written for gun people and the rah rah crowd so only points interesting to them are included. Any outfit with the moniker "concealed carry nation" is selling lifestyle.

I mean... I was an avid cyclist and still take my fat ass out for a ride regularly and the activity doesn't lend itself to frequent hardy masturbation while doing it.

So reacting solely to the story in all it's brevity.

I am not shooting through a locked opaque door and neither should any of you.

First .. evidently different than some of you ... I have no desire to kill someone. Nope .. if I have to I will in a heartbeat but don't wring my hands waiting for an opportunity to deliver my wrath through the barrel of a gun.

I don't need to spend hours explaining what happened to 4 different leos. I don't need to clean blood and other organic matter off my stoop. I don't need to patch the hole in my door. I don't need to appear at inquisition or make multiple trips to court to prove justification. I don't need to make bail. I don't need to potentially spend a few days in jail. I don't need to give my left nut in lawyer fees and lose all my savings.

I don't need to shoot anyone unless they are an immediate threat and being behind a locked door removes immediate from the equation since there is the extra step of navigating through the locked door.

Go ahead with the he was justified they were justified she was justified but it is still going to suck.

This guy lived. Did his threat rise to the level of being shot. Hmmmm we don't know but he may file a civil suit and she may have to defend against it for years.

What if he grew bored and shuffled off to masturbate while riding a unicycle and a witness happened to come over and knock on the door to see if she was alright and bought a bullet for his concern.

You don't know. You don't know because you fired blind at a target you couldn't identify while somewhat safe behind a closed door.

I live in a tiny mobile home and I can easily stand 10 yds from either door way with my gun trained on the entry. Should the evil doer break it in bets are off... but he made the leap, became a real threat and I was able to identify the hostile target and place my shot.

Just cause you have a gun doesn't mean you have to use it.

But then where would be the fun of dreaming up all the scenarios where we whip out our glocks and vanquish dragons and be knighted and revered.
