Colt has been slowly killing their rifle production for awhile. No one is paying the brand name premium in this market, and yes the media is taking it and hoisting it as a propaganda piece. Shouldn't surprise anyone.

They aren't permanently stopping selling to the public....they are temporarily stopping due to the flooded market and low sales. They paused civilian AR production to make military contracts that are higher priority. Nothing about them stopping civilian sales forever. They just received a $41 Million dollar contract for foreign military sales, so that will keep them busy for a few years.

As I recall Colt temporarily suspended public sales in 89 or so after a school shooting in Ca. And then some where in that same period S&W talked about doing the same, moving away from civilian sales. Then came the fed ban 94-04 which remained in many of now titled blue states. Bottom line is they are gun company and they do not need a negative label placed on them for the long run. Non gun owners/entities do not keep them in business. We will see how this plays out.
