Interesting... Saw this while scanning google news this morning and soon after a good Friend and board member hit me up in text with a link to it.

I don't know who the gentleman it is a tribute to is and will look it up and the grips look to be the same as the ones on the match which I liked but didn't love but ...

Unfluted cylinder, Blued, Halflug and gold bead front sight ... yea ... that hits my pleasure sensors. Add to that what a fun and versatile cartridge

Jeff Quinn is the guy with the big beard that did the you tube channel with all the gun reviews. He passed away late last year, Kind of cool really that there doing this and what a great gun and cartridge,

He sure did bring in a lot of biz for Lipsey's in his day.
Kinda neat to commission that pistol with his memory on it.

I like the look of those Ruger GP's without the full lug barrel so that makes for a great looking revolver.

The 44 Special is a great cartridge that's fun to shoot and reload for. I've got a S&W M24 and a Ruger Flattop Blackhawk that are both 44 Specials.

There's a lot to like about that gun. I've got piles of brass and bullets, but no 44's currently... it's a sign!

Jeff did alot of reviews on stuff I wanted it seemed. Gunblast.com was a great site hope it carries on.

I have not heard any thing about Ruger addressing the issue of thin forcing cones in that design.
For mild use OK , iffy for heavier use .
Cool lookin and I like 44 spl., but I'm avoiding.

I havent visited the Ruger forum in a long while. I had no idea there was a cone issue on the GP 44's. Guess it makes sense. Going to have to chase down more info.

Me either. Guess that explains the "good deal" I got on the one i bought last year. Damn it Al.....

That's me . Just raining on parades

But , as always , interweb wisdom may well be overblown .
Ruger seems to think it's not an issue .
Kind of a time will tell thing that seems like a flashback to the days of S&W K frame 357s.

I was a little worried about the forcing cone myself, but from what I've seen/ been hearing as long as you don't go all Elmer Keith on it, they're holding up just fine.

It for sure won't eat the same 44spcl loads as the flattop. But it isn't for just mousefart type loads either.
