Just wanted to post a casual observation I have made during these unusual events of the recent past.
I'm at the grocery store during the recent food panic and I'm waiting in an extremely long line at the checkout with people and carts full of food. The canned goods and pasta are wiped out and forget about paper products.
Everyone around me was in a generally decent metal state and relatively pleasant. The lady behind me let a guy go in front of her because he only had a few items and I thought there would be a riot. No one really cared or at least said anything. I sure didn't but not sure if I would have let him go in front of me in that situation as the line went to the back of the store.
I then realized that the American people are a lot stronger than most people give them credit for. I was overcome by the feeling that we are all in this together. Over the ensuing weeks I have witnessed the same thing numerous times with only a few snippy people.
I have made it a point to help others when I can and share what I have. Yes even shared my dwindling supply of toilet paper. Everyone is appreciative and people have shared what they have with others.
I guess what I'm saying is I have personally witnessed the greater common good in people and I am really proud of what we can do as a people. I still boycott the news but I am an observer of human nature and we are stronger for what has happened.
We will get through this with our human decency and we will be alright.
