I had one of the top ones, except it was "Roy Rodgers" branded. Granted, being born in '80 it was older than I was - but I do remember buying another one of the same style from the drug store in the early 80s.

My love of them didn't last long as when I was 6 (1986) my dad gave me a S&W 2206 in .22LR with the instructions of "Here you go, shithead - don't shoot yourself" and walked off. I wish the 2206s (I had the Stainless with black grips, came in the blue box with "Pistol" repeating at an angle) hadn't gotten ridiculously priced as I would love to have one again but paying 700+ dollars for a .22 pistol isn't going to happen. Lol.

I had a whole get up of Hopalong Cassidy guns hat etc....Hoppy was a good guy and did not shoot so much he pistol whipped lots of bad guys as did I. They took the guns away but we hammers and lots of caps. Few black finger nails along the way..

Lol cool old toys. I have an old pot metal one that was my dad's stamped "dick" on the sides would guess Dick Tracy?

Had them both... although the cap gun on top got less use because we'd take the rolls of caps out and hit them with rocks - or dad's hammer... "big badda boom!!!" :-)

Now - what got real use with caps were these:
