Picked up this with my C&R a few months ago. Nicest looking surplus gun I've ever had, bluing is great and the gun looks mostly new.

Unfortunately if hasn't functioned well. When I first got it I was unable to disassemble it. After putting some rounds though it that problem was alleviated.

But the big issues is that it regularly fails to chamber a round. This happens mostly when racking the slide versus when shooting it.

I've heard it could be a magazine issue. I only have 1 magazine for this gun and would hate to buy another and have that not fix anything as mags for this are pricey.

Another person told me to polish the feed ramp. Any other suggestions? This is with FMJ and not hollow points, I haven't tried hollow points yet.

Make sure the extractor isn't gunked up. I'm talking soak and scrub. If there is debris or old cosmoline in there the spring pressure when hand cycling may not be enough to move the extractor to chamber a round. Being able to move it doesn't matter, your muscles are putting a lot more force than that cartridge is. Give it a good cleaning. A lot of new carcano carbine owners are finding out that the smallest amount of dried cosmoline trapped between the extractor and the bolt means that you can't chamber a round.

Also make sure there isn't a bur on the extractor claw, chamber or breach face either.
